Customer Reviews
Very friendly, easy to book and check in/out, quiet location, very clean, and nice grounds. I'll definitely be back, and might plan a friends trip here. The cabins are adorable! I had planned to camp, then decided on a primitive cabin, but they insisted on me staying in the nicer cabin due to the weather. I was grateful when I woke up to flurries, howling wind, and rain. It's close to town and easy to navigate to and from.
The campground itself is beautiful, but there were multiple issues with our deluxe cabin that made our stay less relaxing. It was pretty clear that "good enough" is the motto. The bed has a quilt on it, making it look like it was ready to use, but in reality the quilt was just directly on top of the mattress cover - no sheets. There was a half roll of toilet paper with none else to be found, so we had to go to town to buy our own. There were no trash bags, just bare cans. No towels. The silverware was just dumped loose in a drawer. The broom is a miniature cheapo that only the smallest of children could use without stooping in half. One of the playgrounds on the map isn't even there and the other is tiny and rotting. The place has the potential to be amazing, but as it is now I'm not sure I could recommend.
So this campground is very pretty. But that’s it. I have family up here and have stayed at Hotel Floyd for years. I decided to start to bring my RV up here and booked this weekend. I am sorry but I will not return to this campground. Just a few points to bring up. I have been camping for years. My campsite grass was not mowed. Looking around a lot of sites have tall grass. It does not work out very well when you try to put a rug down. Second and the most disappointing was the play area. I brought my granddaughters here to play and when we walked over. The play set was horrible. The wood was rotted and the ladder rungs were broken off. The last thing I would like to bring up is trash. On this trip we did not bring our tow behind vehicle. When we called the office told us about the dumpster. We are elderly and can’t walk to the dumpster. This is the only campground I have ever been to that your trash was not picked up in front of your campsite. Hopefully these few things will reach the owner and addressed. Remember my first sentence. This place is beautiful.
Loved the campground. Surrounding are beautiful. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait until next trip.
Tour de Dirt Gravel Event 2024 – Floyd Family Campground My son and I returned to the Tour de Dirt at the Floyd Family Campground for the second year in a row, and this time the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Unlike last year, where we faced some weather challenges, this year the sun shone brightly, and the trees were in full fall color, creating a stunning backdrop for our ride. The roads were some of the best I’ve ridden all year, making the experience even more memorable. What truly stood out this year were the aid stations. The volunteers were absolutely incredible, going above and beyond to support every rider. Their energy and helpfulness elevated the event, making it one of the best I can remember. The sense of community was just as strong as last year, with participants cheering each other on, but the attention to detail by the volunteers truly made this year special. Once again, we left with great memories, new friends, and an even deeper passion for the outdoors. My son and I can’t wait to return next year! Kudos to the organizers and volunteers for another unforgettable event! Oct 2023 The Tour de Dirt Gravel event at Floyd Family Campground was spectacular! My oldest son and I decided to participate, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we've shared. From the moment we arrived, the participants' and organizers' energy and enthusiasm were palpable. The trails were challenging yet exhilarating, offering a perfect blend of adventure and scenic beauty. The camaraderie among the riders was heartwarming, with everyone cheering each other on and sharing stories of their experiences. The Floyd Family Campground served as an ideal backdrop for the event. It's natural beauty and well-maintained facilities added to the overall experience. But what truly stood out was the sense of community. Everyone, from seasoned riders to father-son duos like us, were supportive and encouraging. It felt like we were all part of one big, awesome family. The Tour de Dirt Gravel event was a fantastic experience I recommend to anyone looking for adventure, fun, and community spirit. My son and I left with great memories, new friends, and a renewed passion for the great outdoors. Kudos to the organizers for such a well-executed event!
What a beautiful site! We had a huge campsite, with the perfect view of sunrise over the mountains. The fellow at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Beautiful hillside rv spots, clean, great WIFI, kind staff and a quick drive to the cute town of Floyd and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Highly recommend and hoping to visit again!
