Fontenelle Creek Campground Introduce

Fontenelle Creek Campground is a hidden gem nestled within the Fontenelle Recreation Area near Kemmerer, WY 83101. This charming campground provides an ideal base for exploring the great outdoors while offering essential amenities for campers of all kinds. Whether you're traveling with family, friends, or solo, Fontenelle Creek Campground ensures a memorable and convenient camping experience.

One of the standout features of this campground is its commitment to providing a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The curved pergolas over picnic tables add a unique touch, creating shaded seating areas perfect for enjoying meals or relaxing with loved ones. Many sites also feature barbecue grills, making it easy to prepare meals under the open sky while soaking in the natural surroundings.

Fontenelle Creek Campground is pet-friendly, allowing dogs to join in on the adventure. The area is abundant with wildlife, offering plenty of opportunities for your furry friends to chase after chipmunks and rabbits, as mentioned by previous guests. The campground's well-maintained grounds ensure a clean and safe environment even during the off-season.

While there are no hookups or water connections available at each site, Fontenelle Creek Campground provides accessible water spigots throughout the campground. Please note that these spigots are not threaded, so bringing a rubber adaptor (like a Water Bandit) is recommended for those needing to connect hoses. A convenient dump site near the entrance and a dumpster at the boat ramp add practicality for RV users.

The campground offers flush toilet restrooms during non-freezing months, with vault toilets available in winter for continued accessibility. The proximity to the reservoir allows visitors to enjoy water activities, though launching may require some effort due to low water levels. While there are no official hiking trails, the area provides ample opportunities for leisurely walks along scenic waterfront paths and quiet roads, offering a chance to spot an abundance of bird species.

Fontenelle Creek Campground is a haven for those seeking peace and quiet, with its remote location ensuring minimal noise pollution. However, as noted by guests, it's important to be prepared for typical Wyoming winds, which add to the natural ambiance of the area.

Pricing at Fontenelle Creek Campground is very reasonable, starting at just $7 per night. Seniors with a National Parks Pass can enjoy a discounted rate of half price, making this campground an excellent value for those looking to explore Wyoming's beautiful landscapes.

Customer feedback highlights the charm and tranquility of Fontenelle Creek Campground. Many visitors appreciate its remote location, which often means fewer crowds and a more intimate camping experience. The opportunity to witness natural phenomena like the Hunter Moon and even catch a glimpse of a comet has left lasting memories for some guests. While there are areas that could benefit from additional upkeep, overall, Fontenelle Creek Campground is praised as a clean, well-maintained, and scenic spot for camping.

We stayed here on our drive east in Oct and we were the only one here in the entire campground. As it was after the season, we didn’t even have to pay per the sign. Each site has a curved pergola over a picnic table and some has a bbq grill. Our dog had a great time chasing chipmunks and rabbits. As the night fell, we were welcome by the Hunter moon and even caught a glimpse of the comet. Grounds is well kept even in the off season, though there were some cow dungs on the ground.

This is a nice campground. There are no hookups or water connections but water is available in many sites around the campground. The spigots aren't threaded so bring a rubber adaptor (water bandit) to hook up to a hose. There is a dump site available near the entrance and a dumpster at the boat ramp. There are several flush toilet restrooms when it is not freezing and vault toilets for the winter. There is access to the reservoir for boat although the water is low and you have to go a ways to launch. Although there are no official hikes there is good walking around the campground and lots of waterfront to check out. Lots of birds and far enough from the road to be quiet. As usual in WY, it's windy. But that's normal for WY. In general it is in need of a bit of upkeep, but overall it is a really nice campground. $7/night or half price with a senior national parks pass. Well worth it!

Very open scenery by the lake. BLM sites with a picnic table and roof cover over it. It’s $7 a night a think. Me and my friends cowboy camped here for a night during December, about 4°F with snow on the ground. There is also a boat ramp right next to the campground and you can ice fish on the lake.

For me, Fontenelle Creek Campground was perfect. There were only 2 other campers when I arrived and so far only one more joined us. There's flush toilets, water, picnic tables, fire rings, dump station...$7.00/night ($3.50 for seniors with America the Beautiful card). Huge reservoir filled with geese, birds & chipmunks everywhere and hardly anyone around!!! lots of space to walk my dog. I can drink my coffee outside in my jammies without a care! So far, I love it! To be fair, it is in a bit of disrepair and there's no camp host...more like boondocking with benefits. Works for me!

Great campground, we visited in early September 2023, the campground was empty! Running hot and cold water. Flush toilets. Beautiful view from our upper camp spot. Pelicans and many other birds to photograph. We loved it there! Fee $7.00
