Great Campground with really nice owners. A beautifully kept campground with great spaces between camps. Amazing views and all the seasonal campers are fun to be around. Keep to yourself and relax the day away or join the fun this awesome campground has to offer. Fun for the whole family.
Forest Lake Campground - Windsor, NY A diamond in the ruff this campground is primarily a seasonal location but has excellent sites for short term campers exploring central New York. The owner Peter met us at the gate and took us directly to our site overlooking the lake within the campground and then came back with paperwork for our stay. We walked around the lake which is a mile stroll and were pleased to see the spaciousness of the campsites. The field adjacent to our site was big enough to be a full sized football field. This campground was the best private campground we have stayed at in ten years plus years of camping.
What a great lil place....well not so little. I didn't know what to expect as there isn't too much on the website but was very pleased with this campground. Surrounded by trees and hills it feels like you are in Vermont or New Hampshire...almost...We camp at a lot of random places and this is the top 5. Nice big level sites, very dog friendly (they even have poo bags and a lil dog park). There are a lot of seasonal sites...sometimes you find seasonal campers who do not like the weekenders...but not here! Super friendly. You can walk all around the lake and your site should have more than enough room for outside games. No store to speak of...which I really wanted to walk away with a hoodie or shirt but that won't stop me from coming back! Such a deal for the money. Management was very accommodating! Like I said we will visit again. We did not have school age children to bring but it seems like a great place for them to play and ride bikes...so many kids having a blast! A bon fire at night and a band on Saturday too.
Pete and Dreama are great! This is a hidden gem! We will definitely be back for a longer stay! Clean and very well maintained!
A really beautiful campground right on the lake. The grounds are nice. It can be noisy on the weekends but things do quiet down during the quiet hours. The staff could use a bit more organization (originally lost our reservation and also forgot we had paid and called after we left asking for payment) but they are friendly.
Starting our second year as a seasonal at Forest Lake and I have had nothing but a wonderful experience. The owners do a great job keeping the campground friendly, quiet and clean. They really try to accommodate any reasonable request. Many of the campers have been there for years and have been friendly and welcoming. There are activities if you want but the most appealing thing to me is to just relax and unwind!
