Forkland Campground Introduce

Introduction / Overview

Welcome to Forkland Campground, an Alabama gem managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, highly regarded by local residents for its exceptional cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere, and beautiful setting. Located in a scenic, thick wooded area on the northern shore of Demopolis Lake, Forkland Campground offers a tranquil yet amenity-rich escape. Demopolis Lake is the largest body of water along the historic Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway, providing 10,000 surface acres for endless water-based recreation.

This destination is a true retreat for all types of campers, from RV enthusiasts to tent campers. Customer reviews consistently highlight the great camp hosts, clean facilities, and well-maintained grounds, assuring visitors of a comfortable and welcoming stay. The campground's design prioritizes spaciousness, with well-trimmed trees providing ample shade while minimizing hazard—a thoughtful detail appreciated by RV owners. With its location in the natural splendor of Alabama's Black Belt region, Forkland Campground serves as a convenient and quiet base for exploring the rich wildlife and history of West Central Alabama.

The campground’s commitment to quality ensures that nearly every spot is considered a "beautiful spot," often boasting a level concrete pad for easy setup and a gorgeous view of the lake or McConnico Creek. It’s a wonderful spot for families, anglers, and anyone simply seeking quiet relaxation away from the urban noise of nearby Tuscaloosa or Demopolis.

Location and Accessibility

Forkland Campground is strategically located at 1365 Forkland Park Rd, Boligee, AL 35443, USA, placing it in Greene County, a short distance from the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway. This positioning makes it easily accessible for Alabamians traveling from the major metro areas.

The campground is situated approximately nine miles north of the city of Demopolis and about 50 miles south of Tuscaloosa. Access is straightforward:

  • From Demopolis, travel north on U.S. Highway 43 for about 10.6 miles.
  • Turn left at the signage for Forkland Campground onto the access road (often called River Road).
  • Proceed for about 1.3 miles to the gatehouse and entrance.

The roads in and around the park are reported to be easily traveled, making the approach smooth for large RVs and travel trailers. Once inside the park, the well-maintained asphalt roads and level, concrete pads on most sites ensure minimal difficulty in maneuvering and setting up camp. The gate typically closes at 10 PM, so visitors arriving late should contact the camp host in advance for after-hours access instructions. Although the park is remote enough to offer minimal light pollution for stargazing, it is close enough to main routes to be a convenient stopover or a week-long destination.

Beautiful spots; easy setup due to pad being so level. I don't think there is a bad spot in the entire campground. Play area for children lots of lake access.

Very pretty, well kept campground. Less crowded than the one in Demopolis, but not a far drive to town. Worth it for the seclusion. Water views are somewhat blocked by trees, but some have steps down to the water. Sites are paved. Bathrooms clean. I highly recommend this campground if visiting Demopolis.
