Refer to Bureau of Land Managments map of Forks of Butte Creek Recreation Area. There is an unmarked road (Ditch Grade Rd) on standard maps that is referenced on BLM maps. Orient yourself with the map once you leave Skyway Rd. Its available in PDF on their website. In fact, I downloaded it at the trailhead. The road is slightly worse than the road to the bridge when you take the fork left on Doe Mill instead of right on Ditch Grade. There are barriers and a Danger sign about 2/3 of the way in. The path is clear and no danger is present as of today 9/9/24. There is a hiking trail from the bridge but I have not taken this to the camp yet I would estimate maybe a mile or 2. If I can make it in my VW New Beetle, you can make it in anything. A trash clean had been done recently in the camp and was waiting for pickup at the switchback that leads you in. It's all around gorgeous.

Directions are sketchy. No idea where the campgrounds actually are, last turn lead me to a gate that said private property and to left was a road that went nearly vertical but based on tire tracks someone goes up there regularly. Review is based on directions not the campgrounds.

Nice place , lots of memories going there, getting a bit over used now days, and getting harassed by people isn't fun when your trying to enjoy nature and quiet time.

It's beautiful! EDIT: Forks of the Butte is no longer open and has been gated off. One more beautiful place you can't go visit because people can't figure out how to take their trash with them! 🤬 I don't understand why they just shut it down instead of patrol it? They drive down once or twice say it looks like hell and shut it down. Dirt bags don't care, their on to phuck up somewhere else and the decent people lose out. Law enforcement needs to be proactive and set up trail cams or set up volunteer days like they do for the highway or something. I'm sick of losing all my spots to enjoy nature!!!
