My family loves going to Fort Hamby to swim. I just wish they could open a bit more space for "beach" and swimming as it can get crowded later in the day. Bring a cooler, sunscreen and your bathing suit and it is hours of fun.

Beautiful campground that has something for everyone! Stop at the Moffitt Toolan family farm store on the way in for locally sourced meats, eggs, jelly, etc. Quiet and peaceful. All water activities, a beach, disc golf. The only negative is that Verizon is 👎. We had cell service (talk/text) but no internet. Not a deal breaker by any means, but we would’ve like to catch up on the Olympics at night. Great bike riding! Will return.

We recently stayed 8 days on site 24. There’s only 1 shower house with 2 shower stalls for the entire campground. There are also 2 showers at the beach restroom. The campground showers were noticeably cleaned 2 times during our entire stay. They didn’t seem to clean the restrooms Thursday-Sunday. They weren’t clean when we arrived on Saturday either. No soap in either restroom for multiple days in a row even after informing the front gate folks. They were clean Monday & Wednesday. We saw the truck with the folks who care for it sitting around most days. Never saw them in action. Quiet hours are not enforced by anyone associated with the park at any time. We were advised to call 911 for the neighbors who played loud music 24hours a day. Our kids had trouble sleeping the entirety of the neighbor’s stay. Very disappointing & frustrating they don’t enforce their own policies. Site 24 is an excellent site with a steep grade to get into. Only problem is the back of the site with the fire pit area is very close to site 21’s back end of their site & fire pit area. Site 21 was the source of the problem & I later learned the folks on site 31 could even hear their music but were able to tune it out. That’s very far away so that tells ya how loud it was. We’ve never camped anywhere they’ve told us to call 911 for breaking quiet time rules, perhaps we will next time. Yes, we spoke with them & asked to turn it down. They did not. Overall, we wanted to love it as that area is our favorite place in NC so far but we won’t be back to this campground unless absolutely necessary. Folks working the gate were very nice. The hiking trail around the lake was closed. The beach is in a different area & a very nice long walk. We drove when we went to swim. The boat ramp is close to the beach area. Hoping Warrior Creek opens back up. We loved it there.
