We had so much fun as a family at Fort Loudoun Park. They often do reenactments at the park that make for a great history lesson. One down side is I did not see a playground near where we were at, but the kids still had fun ☺️
Great Visitor Center and Park.. we visited during the rain but it was still great. They have rebuilt a replica Fort You can walk in and out of buildings to see how the British soldiers lived during that time period. Well worth the visit!!
A throwback in time. When we visited, people were camping on the peninsula reenacting 1700s. They were burning fires and actually living inside the fort dressed time appropriate. (Red coats live) like something out of movie. Loved it! An interesting place to visit. Woodworking activity for kids is great. Nice park! I enjoyed checking out the houses.
We really enjoyed visiting. The grounds are open to explore. The visitor center has a lot of educational history and artifacts. There are trails to walk and explore. Picnic tables and benches. I wish we had more time to explore that day. We will definitely be visiting again. The restrooms are in the visitor center, and the visitor center closes at 4:30 pm. Donations are encouraged, and it is definitely worth it to keep up this nice place.
I was expecting the buildings to actually be from the 1700s. But they were rather historically accurate replicas. Still cool, but not as cool as if they had been original. The museum (Visitor Center) was closed when we arrived, so we didn't get to see that part of the Park. But we did get to experience some of the walking trails. They were very nice, and a pleasure to walk on! Overall, it was a good experience. I recommend it to anyone, local or tourist, who enjoys history. I certainly enjoyed it!
