Fort Welikit Family Campground

This is a wonderful campground for all kinds of travelers. First of all, the staff is incredibly friendly and available. The location is very close to the town of Custer and Mount Rushmore. The amenities like showers and laundry room are clean, spacious, well lit, and open 24 hours. The playground for the kids is great not only for running off some energy, but for fun pretend play. We didn't stay in a tent or cabin site, but the RV sites are great. Shaded, well maintained hookups, level spots easy to get into. Bonus: wifi works great! Highly recommend this campground whenever you're in the Black Hills.

We absolutely loved staying here. Nice campsites, clean shower houses with private/individual rooms, an awesome playground, and the laundry facilities were great too to be able to utilize. The WiFi worked well for us to stream YouTube TV, but it would slow down a bit when the busier times of people using it came around.

Stayed for 3 nights. Absolutely amazing stay. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Private restrooms and showers. Showers are free and hot. Very close to town! We even walked to town and back one night for dinner from camp. Extremely close to Sylvan Lake. Great base camp for the needles highway, Mount Rushmore, hill city, hiking in the black hills. Absolutely loved every second here. Couldn’t recommend this campground enough.

We had a lovely time staying here. The location was perfect-a short drive to many attractions and hikes. We stayed in one of the tent sites with no electricity, it was very spacious and plenty of shade trees. The bathrooms were EXTREMELY NICE!! The building of bathrooms by the tent loop is what we used for most of our stay, but there is a bigger building with more on the other end of the campground. They were clean and it was a bonus having a private toliet/shower. The campground is very quiet and peaceful, and we enjoyed watching the bunnies run around! Overall we had a great stay and definitely would come back

Stayed at Fort Welikit for our vacation to SD. This campgrounds is in the perfect location with lots to do nearby and Badlands less than 2 hours away. The campgrounds is very quiet with nice bathroom/shower facilities as well as washers and dryers. Will definitely be staying here when we come back!
