This place is absolutely disgusting and if I could give it a negative review star wise I definitely would. They had raw sewage running on the ground for months and the fact that no one wanted to to acknowledge the fact that that was going on is disgusting. The people that work there should be ashamed of themselves for letting raw sewage run on the ground while children play at the playground. This is not something I would ever recommend to anyone

THE Pictures online were extremely misleading to what we received. No shower, dirty toilet, no working WIFI or TV. Space was extremely small. Bunk bed, so uncomfortable. Bunk bed had unsafe hanging nails from bed. There was lots of bugs crawling around. Power worked but had minimal outlets. Had to unplug TV and Fridge to charge phone. Customer service was extremely poor and unfriendly. Couldn't work door knob, and was broken and the ac knob was broken. So we couldn't adjust temperature in the hot summer. Pool was filled with little kids, so you couldn't enjoy that. They lied to us and we couldn't get a refund. They provided us with a very uncomfortable stay with a no refund policy. I would not recommend this to anyone. Our neighbors were outside fighting on how horrible their stay was too. Yeah less than one star deserved. You also have to provide your own sheets, comforter, pillows, toilet paper and trash can. Come on guys... really!
We needed an affordable cabin/cottage for a weekend trip to Cherokee. The reviews were mixed and to be honest, some were completely ridiculous. We stayed in cottages 3 & 6, they were clean, as described, quiet and peaceful. The pool was open, clean and enjoyable the little we were able to use it (rain). We will be coming back! Yes, there is a rooster who was a little vocal, but come on, it's the country! Perfect upgrade from tent camping, which we do often.
Under no circumstances should you consider staying at Fort Wilderness. The pictures are absolutely misleading. We made the mistake of not reading the reviews prior to booking our stay at Fort Wilderness. We reserved a pull through site for Thursday 7/18/24 and we were scheduled to leave on Monday 7/22/24. The four pull through sites were paved however the pull through sites are very short and are not even close to being level. We chose the most level site of the four. We set up including leveling, opening the slide, connecting the water and electric. Only to find that the 30 amp breaker had failed and management had not bothered to replace the defective breaker. This happened just prior to the office closing for the day. The woman at the office suggested that we either use the 50 amp circuit and use an adapter down to 30 amp or run our power cord to the adjacent site to be able to get power. We chose to run the cord with a surge protector to the adjacent site. The third issue was we paid the additional $2.50 per night charge for cable and it didn’t work. The cable issue was discovered after the office was closed. The fourth issue was no water pressure with a considerable amount of air in the water supply line. This caused pressure surges in our water hose thank goodness for our pressure regulator. Once we realized that the water pressure issue was not going to be resolved we checked out the bath house. The bath house was dark and dirty. It appeared that they were not regularly cleaned. The floor was dirty as was the sink. The shower stalls were also dirty. To overcome the water pressure issue I filled my fresh water tank and used the on board system to supply a steady flow of water. This all took place on Thursday of course after the office was closed. Friday there was no one at the office when we checked after 10:00 am prior to leaving for activities. . The office has very limited hours 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM. Again on Saturday there was no one at the office. We were in town to ride the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad on Saturday evening. My wife and I decided not to stay until Monday. We left Sunday morning without requesting a refund for the inoperable cable or for Sunday night. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay at Fort Wilderness. We have been RVing for thirty years and have camped in all 26 states east of the Mississippi. Fort Wilderness makes the top 6 of the worst places we have stayed at. Everything from electric, water, cable and the bath house are sub par. Even the dumpster was not located in the area that was designated on the map. When we found it, it was full and overflowing with trash. Fort Wilderness is by far one of the worst managed campgrounds we have run across. Do not waste your hard earned money on this place.
