Foster Red Mountain Campground Introduce

Welcome to Foster Red Mountain Campground, located at 247 Casitas Vista Rd in Ventura, California, USA. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Foster Red Mountain Campground offers a convenient camping option for those traveling from Los Angeles, though it comes with some limitations. You can find this campground within the Foster Park area.

Foster Red Mountain Campground is primarily known for its easy accessibility from Los Angeles, making it a popular choice for quick getaways. However, potential campers should be aware of several drawbacks. According to customer reviews, the campground is not suitable for larger rigs, with 32’ 5th wheels unable to fit due to crowded trees and low-hanging branches. Road noise is also a significant issue, particularly for sites located near the road. The recreation area near the river, a popular spot for activities, was under construction and closed as of July 2023, limiting recreational opportunities. Additionally, the men's restroom has been reported as broken for an extended period, indicating potential maintenance issues. The campground's sites are described as crowded, and the overall experience may not be ideal for those seeking a peaceful and spacious camping environment. The campground's primary advantage is its accessibility, but visitors should be prepared for limited amenities and potential noise disturbances.

Here are some key features and considerations:

  • Accessible from LA: Convenient location for quick trips from Los Angeles.
  • Not for Large Rigs: Crowded trees and low branches limit access for larger RVs.
  • Road Noise: Significant noise from nearby roads, especially at certain sites.
  • River Recreation Area: Potentially closed due to construction.
  • Broken Restrooms: Reports of long-term restroom maintenance issues.
  • Crowded Sites: Sites are described as crowded.
  • Limited Amenities: Overall limited amenities.
  • Short Trips: Suitable for short, accessible camping trips.
  • Location: Situated in Ventura, CA, providing a nature camping experience.

Foster Red Mountain Campground offers easy access from Los Angeles, but it comes with limitations, including road noise, limited amenities, and unsuitable conditions for large rigs. Potential campers should check the availability of recreational areas and restroom facilities before planning a trip. If you are looking for a quick and accessible camping option and are prepared for the limitations, Foster Red Mountain Campground might be suitable. However, consider reviews carefully before booking.

Not for larger rigs. 32’ 5th Wheel will not fit anywhere, crowded trees and low hanging branches everywhere. And lots of road noise.

We used to camp here with a lot of kids because it is easily accessible from LA and there are almost no mountain roads. There is a recreation area nearby where we could play in the river, but when we went on July 14th 2023, the recreation area on the other side of the river was under construction and closed, so we could not play in the river. Also, the men's restroom is broken, and from the cleaning inspection form, it appears that it has been broken since about May. Sites on the side near the road should definitely be avoided because of the noise of cars.

We had a great time this past weekend at Foster Red Mountain campground. Dane was the camphost and is literally the best ever! He helped us so much, kept the bathrooms clean, and was always available if needed, also very nice and friendly. The kids loved to play on the swings. We did a little hike to the one attached to the campground. And we went across the street to enjoy the river.

not a huge fan. road noise was a problem for me so I left. Since I left, I can't really speak to anything else. though my site was also fairly small and didn't have much by way of flat ground. seemed a chill clean vibe otherwise.

It is nice quite and peaceful place to get away. I stayed there for a week, and enjoy every minute of it. Just me and my two little doggies.
