Spots were nice, spacious, and level. Power was reliable. Shaded, quiet campground. A perfect distance to the Fox Lake train into Chicago. But what really made our time here great was the staff. There are some real salt of the earth people working here- every one we came in contact with, in fact.
We love Chain O Lakes, the rangers have relaxed there more in the past few years, some sites are bigger than others, I would recommend scouting sites out before reserving them, we usually go to Honeysuckle Hollow but Fox Den is a little more wooded. Watch out for raccoons at night other than that decent campground, I highly recommend the trail system there.
Very unique place where you can grill with family away from frequencies and fish and feel a bit of nature you wouldn’t find in the city. Very healing atmosphere by the lake and beautiful sunsets!
Camping and fishing @ Chain O Lakes. Park & Campgrounds much nicer than Shabbona...but Shabbona has them beat on choice of boat rentals and the in park restaurant. Site 10. Nice site decent shade
Without reservations, the camp host still got us a fantastic spot for a great three day weekend.
