Awesome campground with spread out sites. Some of the driveways are a little sketchy with giant rocks, so make sure you check them out before committing. We arrived on a Saturday and there were still some spots available. Our site was at least 50 yards from the neighboring sites. There is some atv traffic on the road but it is not constant. The fire pit was nice and the scenery is beautiful. The best part is that it is free. We will be back.
Free dispersed camping for rv or tents. Beautiful campground. Some big spots for large groups. My go to place when I go to Forest Lakes. Some spots my be muddy at times in the year. Two miles from willow springs lake. No restrooms or trash containers.
This campground is right next to the Rim and is absolutely perfect. A little dusty but our stays here have been awesome and I look forward to returning. If you go on friday nights you should be able to find a spot, however spots fill up quick on Saturday. Also, camping here is free!
What a great place for a family (or solo) outing! You can't beat the price (free) and it is close to the highway, but not so close that you are bothered by the traffic. When we were there, we had plenty of space around us, with no other campers in sight. We brought along our pets, and they had a great time as well. Our grandchildren were still quite young, but enjoyed being out in nature. Plenty of room to take nice hikes, and plenty of beauty to view and photograph.
Our new favorite place to camp. The host Mike was very hospitable. Even brought us wood here and there. The spot itself wasnt too rough. Firepits were premade and there was a bench. Saw a bunch of squirrels and heard a bunch of elk nearby. Theres a cliffside not far from the site. Even the other campers were friendly.
I love FR 171 because I've been here two years and always found a site away from people. Solitude is key for me!
