Customer Reviews
This campsite was nice and in the perfect location for hiking. We stayed here for 3 nights. Everyone was friendly and the check in process was very easy. The showers were dirty but the restroom was fine. Firewood is very overpriced, consider buying before you arrive on site. The rv sites in the woods are very tight. Make sure you know how to back in a trailer if you stay in those sites. Playground was fine but outdated. The mini golf is not a thing at all. The trees overhanging the road could be trimmed back a little bit. They should move the dumpster location to the exit so you do not have to turn around or go through the entire campsite again to leave. Other than that we would stay again, especially for the price.
Columbus Day Weekend in the White Mountains, we just spent this past weekend at the Fransted Family Campground. We had site 4, this site was small, but worked for our 19' camper. It was right across from the office and approx. 2 sites from the bathhouse. We typically do not book this near to office, how ever this time was ok, it was quite. The campground was well maintained and clean. Bathrooms some would say are a bit dated, I would say your roughing it. They were clean and provided the essentials. Shower rooms were clean and had good hot water. The location of campground was right off I93, very easy to get in an out. When we stay again I would recommend down near the back like sites 25a, 25 or 26. Most of the sites were well spaced. My only downs were-firewood was a bit pricey at $9 a bundle, took a little bit to get lit. The office is not always available, there seemed to be many times it was closed in middle of day an no one around. In the ladies bathroom the sinks seemed to be having a draining issue, not sure if it was because there ending for the season, or just a malfunction. They did seem to have it cleaned up pretty quickly. Over all good private campground, we typically do State parks mostly because you know what to expect. We have tried several different private camp grounds and not always had a great experience. We typically camp in Maine, NH and VT.
We love our annual camping trips at Fransted. We always book a two-night stay at a premium tent site, and find we have plenty of space (we have a large 8-person tent and could fit another large tent if needed) and plenty privacy for our family of four people plus a dog. The campground is quiet, beautiful, and you can hike the short campground hiking trail along the river, which connects to lovely network of other trails through the woods. Great for exploring! Plus, the campground is a short drive from the mountains for even longer hikes. Plus a 10-min drive to Littleton where you can buy necessities or enjoy the beautiful town. Other guests have been polite, quiet, and friendly. As some have mentioned, there is distant noise from the highway late at night, but nothing that kept us awake.
We had a wonderful time at Fransted Campground. It was mid-week in September and there were very few people there, it was nice and quiet! We had a riverside tent site #27 which was perfect. The bathrooms were the cleanest campground bathrooms I have ever seen. There's a short hiking trail which we took out to the river and had a picnic. It was lovely. The people that we met in the office were very kind and efficient. There are lots of rules, but that's how we like it. Although this didn't bother us, you should know that there is traffic noise from the nearby highway, day and night, especially big trucks. This may be a problem for some people.
We recently had a great time camping here, nestled in Franconia. The campground was quiet, clean, and peaceful. We had enough room for our 30 foot motorhome and car with no problem. We loved the location while we were close to all the sites and activities. We were removed enough when it came time to settle in have a campfire and relax. Our camp post was attentive and polite, even providing us with firewood after hours. Highly recommend.
