Weekend tent camping trip for two. My daughter and I had a great time. We were the only ones in the primitive tent site as it was very late-season. Was great with the boisterous puppy. Bathrooms with showers are across a field, road, and up a long driveway. We rarely used them. Bring your own water and supplies. Picnic table, bench and fire ring was at the site nestled under trees next to a beautiful babbling creek with hills in the distance. Gorgeous golden late fall scenery. Campground office stayed closed but someone showed up in a golf cart and very nicely sold us some firewood and brought it to the site. Happy we stayed. Tons of nearby trails. Drove about a half hour to Hawk Rock Overlook; worthwhile. Very popular family hike.
This will be our 2nd stay here. We love that it’s so quiet and beautiful here. You feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere but not far from stores and places to go. Everyone is very nice and the tent sites are huge! The bathrooms and showers are clean. Will update after this visit in August (just made reservations)
This place is one of the most beautiful, best kept secrets I have ever seen. It's peaceful, relatively quiet, depending on the time of year and day or night. The scenery is absolutely stunning, the staff are phenomenal, and overall, this is just a great little place for a weekend getaway, or an extended visit. Once you are here, you never want to leave!
We stayed at the Birdsong Cabin this past weekend and it was a great experience. The cabin is very nice and modern. It has two bathrooms which is very nice for 4 people. There is a nice deck with a great view that we enjoyed. We would definitely go back.
Manager was friendly. Site was poorly set up. Lots of trashy looking places. 90% permanent sites. Good for hiking and getting away from cell phones, TV, just disconnecting. The sewer connection was up hill from our sight so dumping was impossible. Fire pit was on the back side of our camper. Roads are red clay very dusty and covered. Everything with dust. Given a map at check in. And paper for music fest, was an additional fee but unknown how much? No other info for anything or even a receipt. Leash rule for dogs not followed. Tons of golf cart activity.
