Ive been going to this lake just about my whole life, and its always been one of my favorites. From camping to hiking, fishing, jet skis, boating, even offroad a bit out past the back of the lake. Its really a beautiful area with lots of campsites and beautiful water to swim in. Highly recommend frenchman campground, right be the boat dock. Took some pics a few years back, after the beckworth complex fire
Great things to do here. Water is higher than ever in 2023. Beautiful everywhere you go. Hiking is plentiful. Peaceful coves to relax in. Still has shade available even though many trees are burnt down.
We had an amazing time! My boyfriend and family got up there during Memorial Dayweekend. It's such a peaceful place to camp, boating, and fishing. 5.26 to 5.29.2023. Clean, gorgeous, fun, and quiet, The 2 people who run the place were so nice and sweet. They checked on many people around all different camp sites. My only teeny tiny complaint would be we weren't there long enough. For 4 days there prices of our site was pretty good. Thank you for such a great experience camping in such a wonderful place.
Overall- I recommend this campground. Pretty little reservoir for swimming or fishing. Some campsites have a view of the water. The sites are large with lotsa room in between. Bathrooms (vault) were clean. Plenty of water spigots. The sites are on a slope so they are uneven and some have stairs. That could be a problem for some people. The price was $38 per night!! California prices!!
Beautiful lake. We love spending summer days here. It's perfect for even our young, novice kayakers to be able to go out on the boats and have fun. It's a bit of a hill to haul gear and such to the beach, but doable; even for and with young kids, it's manageable. Good swimming. There's a bit of shade, but we bring pop up tents and umbrellas to supplement. There's plenty of beach to set up on. Bathrooms in the parking lot could use some attention, so be aware of that if it's an issue for you. And the parking lot does fill up around mid to late morning in the summer, but if you can find a parking spot, you can probably find some beach to play on too. It's usually families playing in the cove, but sometimes boats come in too. We haven't ever fished here, but I know people do in early morning and late evening. $3 parking fee.
