Amazingly beautiful quiet secluded campground right along the upper south fork of the McKenzie River
Quiet, serene, river. This place is nearly perfect. It has pit toilets, no electricity, and the driveways are not huge. This makes for a more quiet campground. Many sites are large. It is an ideal set up for quiet with the river providing background music. Although it has a water pump, consider bringing your own water or a filter.
This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places on Earth. I have been camping here for more than 20 years. The wildlife I have seen here are birds, deer, frogs and squirrels. Once I caught a tiny fish that I threw back. There are some nice trails that lead into the Three Sisters Wilderness for some great hiking. The forest in the wilderness has a strange, quiet, ominous feeling; I call it the Forest of Fangorn. There are two pit toilets and a well with a hand-crank pump. I don't drink the water without filtering or boiling it any more; two incidents of drinking it unfiltered resulted in some uncomfortable digestive disturbances! I go here when I need some perspective on my life, and I have made some important life decisions while resting under the tall trees.
Very remote, very quiet, no cell service...near perfect!
