Black Mountain at the state line of Virginia & Kentucky. Mother bear & her triplet cubs. So cute, but we remained in the jeep while she gathered her babies. This is a steep, winding mountain road, deep in Appalachia, so be careful if you explore. We saw another bear a few miles from these.
Beautiful well kept trails and streams. The water was crystal clear, there is tree coverage for most of the hike but bug spray and sun screen is recommended especially in the summer months. This is a true nature lovers paradise and dog friendly in areas. Perfect for a walk and a swim, camp or a day long hike. The geographical formations along the river bed are beautiful to see and the warm smell of the pine forest is enchanting
We loved camping here and had a great time! Plenty of things to see and do. Riding bikes, volleyball, playground, hiking, etc. You are camping on the side of the mountain and through some of the trees you can see it! They have about 4 or more Yurts to camp in as well!
A good place to go camping
Checking out some beautiful fall foliage at it's peak! Spectacular sky views! Just a few local spots within The Jefferson National Forest. Won't be long before the colder weather moves in and The White Tail Bucks know it! Take care when driving, especially more rural areas. The deer are definitely on the move...
