Literally one of my favorite places that I've ever been to, I have gone at least four times in the last month and I will go again. I definitely recommend it to anyone! lots and lots and lots of walking paths.
Worth five stars but... A beautiful campground nestled in a national forest, with less than a dozen sites spaced far enough apart that you’d be hard-pressed to see your neighbor. I've been camping since my Cub Scout days, nearly 50 years ago, and have had many positive interactions with park rangers. I can't recall a time when they weren't friendly, helpful, and kind—until today. I understand the importance of rules, but a little sensitivity and kindness when dealing with elderly folks would go a long way. Based on my past experiences, other rangers would have made the situation better. In hindsight, the individual who confronted us was likely not an actual ranger, but perhaps a maintenance person having a rough day—at least, I hope that was the case.
Followed Giant White Pine Trail to Bald Mountain. Full day hike of around 19 miles. Lots of shorter loop trails available too. Peaceful, scenic.
Nice camp spots with tables and fire pits. Many rest rooms. Lots of trees and many miles of hiking trails.
We adore this campground. Plenty of room to have a little privacy and great trails to take during the day.
