Glacier Basin Campground has quickly become my favorite campsite, at least for the foreseeable future. This place has everything you need for a perfect camping experience: a solid tent base, a sturdy concrete picnic table, a firewood store, drinkable water (seasonal), and spotless restrooms. One of the first things you'll notice is the beautiful aspen trees surrounding you. At my particular site (A028), you only need to take a few steps to be greeted by stunning views of the mountain range. Plus, there's a Bear Lockbox right next to the site, so you have secure storage for your food and belongings. For those like me who are coming from out of state and renting a car, the on-site firewood store is incredibly convenient. Just remember that the firewood vendor arrives at around 4 PM, starts selling at 6 PM, and stays until 8 PM. Make sure to be there within that window if you need to stock up. Overall, Glacier Basin Campground offers a fantastic mix of convenience and natural beauty, making it an ideal spot for any camper.
Stayed here in the car for 2 nights, I’m glad we picked this campground over the other two in the park. Beautiful views all around, quiet and very very nice bathrooms. I even took a photo of the bathrooms and sent it to my friends because of how clean it was for a campground. Fire ban in effect so we didn’t get to have a fire but that’s okay and not the campgrounds fault. I DEFINITELY would stay here again!!
The campground is conveniently located within the Estes Park. The camp ground is big and not clumsy at all, the views are breathtaking. The restrooms, water sources, grills, trash collection are great you should not have any issue at all. All major hiking trails and lake are only 5minutes drive from the ground. Highly recommend.
Great place to stay! Bathrooms are clean, they have quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. You can take the shuttle to bear lake just crossing the street from the campground.
Glacier Basin is a big campground in a great location in RMNP. The camp sites are quite close to each other, so if you have inconsiderate neighbors you will hear them. Some stays we've had peace and quite, some stays we've had children crying at 7am. Each loop has a couple of bathrooms, water station, and dishwashing sink. There was limited service for Verizon. They aren't selling ice or firewood this season (so it's a 25 minute drive into Estes Park if you need more). Some sites have shade and some don't - be aware of that. Of the ~20 nights I've spent here in the summer I have been rained on almost all of them. Rain showers usually move through quickly. The best part about the campground is the location. You can either walk / drive 0.5 miles to the park and ride shuttle, which will take you up Bear Lake Road, or you can hike from your campground to the many trails in this section of the park.
