beautiful spot for camping.. all the sites are a very short walk to the creek and a quick mile and a half to gnat creek fish hatchery. In the three nights we stayed only one on the camper for a night. it is right off the highway and you can hear the trucks and traffic sometimes. this also leads to a few random people stopping to use the restroom.. all hours of the day and night. but the campground is awesome and I will be back.
We had such a beautiful experience at this campground. It was empty in the middle of the week late august and just so perfect and quiet. The stream is calm and clear with many points to swim. The trails were a lot of fun too. Previous campers did a poor job cleaning up, but the rest was great. Take care of the space. Two large, clean outhouses.
I actually just pulled into what my dog out and have cigarette. Had no idea that I was going to run into a 3 ft Chinook salmon in a creek barely big enough to hold a trout. But I did and those two guys in the first picture, well they were too stupid to know how to catch it. If they had listened to me they would have hooked it in the first cast. But as far as I know they didn't catch anything because they were quite frankly too young or too stupid to do things right. The only way they were going to catch that fish was with a net. It was all spawned out that's why it was white. They actually thought oh cool we can catch it and keep it cuz it's all spawned out.
Nice little campground; sites are fairly close together. All but one are "carry in", although it isn't very far from parking even to the farthest sites (which are the ones over looking the creek). No services, including no trash receptecles, so be prepared to take your trash out with you.
Easy to get to. Just far enough off the road to not hear the traffic. Nicely maintained, with easy walk-in camping spots and well-kept trails. Great spot to dip your toes into tent camping. No running water or RV spots.
