This is a very calm and scenic spot ideal for camping. It has enough parking space and several picnic benches and chairs to sit and relax. The water was very cold even in summers.. the depth gradually increases however the bed of water is full of pebbles so not that easy to walk or swim. If you're lucky you can see some whales that we came to know from some campers staying there.
Stayed at the little municipal campground in Goodyear Cove outside of Springdale NL. What a lovely gem of a location. Looking out into the bay was gorgeous. Though campground is all gravel, the sites are well sized and level. Electrical 30A installed a year ago worked well. Don who maintains the campground was a delight and a fountain of local information. The washroom and shower are very clean thanks to Don’s efforts. At $30 a night a real bargain.
Only downside to this beautiful place is lack of camping lots and limited services. Walking trails, public washrooms with showers, and the only location in central Newfoundland on the ocean AND the Trans Canada Highway. From the beach you can see whales, American Eagles, seals (in season, a variety of seabirds and the occasional iceberg. Also right from the beach you can fish for cod, mackerel, sea trout, squid, caplin, flounder, and Atlantic salmon. Atlantic salmon and codfish are subject to licensing regulations. You can also fish for these from boat. That being said, the campground could also use a floating dock and a proper boat launch so guests could also avail of the boating potential in this area.
Great little campground ! Cheap. Showers are clean ! Nice views and a super cute little hike with good viewpoints. A special thx to Don for his amazing welcome and some french singing 😂
Not suitable for tenting. Very open and exposed. No trees on site. Tent almost blew into ocean. I had to tie it to a picnic table. Lots of locals here waiting for caplin run on beach. Great spot for sea kayaking.
