Goose Landing LLC Introduce
For those of us who cherish the authentic, unvarnished spirit of Wyoming, Goose Landing LLC in Upton offers a camping experience that truly reflects the state’s rugged charm. This privately owned campground provides a straightforward, no-frills approach to outdoor living, making it an appealing choice for locals who prioritize convenience and a genuine connection with the land over extensive luxury amenities. Situated in a region brimming with natural wonders and historical significance, Goose Landing serves as a practical and accommodating base for exploring the unique landscape of northeastern Wyoming. It’s a place where you can pull in late, set up camp, and immediately feel the vastness of the Wyoming sky above you.
Goose Landing LLC has garnered a reputation for its flexibility and ease of access, particularly for those on the road. One reviewer praised their experience, stating, "Super accommodating to our late night arrival with no prior reservations. Beautiful site. Everything I was looking for in a camp ground for passing through." This speaks volumes about the welcoming nature of the campground, a quality highly valued by travelers and locals alike. While some aspects of the campground might evoke a more rustic or "original experience," as one detailed review highlighted, its fundamental offerings cater to the needs of campers seeking a simple, reliable place to rest and recharge amidst their Wyoming adventures. For those who understand and appreciate the self-sufficient nature often required when exploring rural Wyoming, Goose Landing presents a viable and convenient option.
Goose Landing LLC is located at 2741 WY-116 Box 1020, Upton, WY 82730, USA. This address places it just north of the town of Upton, along Wyoming Highway 116. For Wyoming locals, its position offers convenient access to a variety of regional attractions. Upton itself is known as "The Best Town on Earth" and serves as a gateway to the Black Hills region of Wyoming, placing Goose Landing within a reasonable drive of several iconic landmarks.
The campground’s location on a state highway makes it easy to find, even for late arrivals. While a detailed review noted a "long dirt road to the campground" and a blocked shortcut from the Discovery Center (which appears to refer to a different "Goose Landing" in Nebraska and not this specific location in Upton, WY, based on the provided address and local context for Upton), its direct access from WY-116 generally ensures a straightforward journey. This accessibility is a major benefit for those looking for a hassle-free stopover or a starting point for their exploration of eastern Wyoming’s natural and historical sites.
- RV Sites: Goose Landing LLC primarily caters to RV campers, offering full hookups that typically include water, electric (30/50 amp), and sewer connections. Reviews suggest that sites are generally spacious, with concrete driveways and pads, accommodating various RV sizes.
- Tent Camping: While reviews indicate that designated tent sites may not be clearly marked or shaded, tent camping is an option. Visitors should be prepared for a more primitive tent setup without specific amenities directly at the tent spots.
- Shower House: A shower house is available for guest use. While one detailed review mentioned an "original experience" with a need to clean facilities after use and hunt for toilet tissue, it also noted being "thrilled to have it" and highlighted "nice" or "great showers" in other instances. This suggests basic but functional facilities.
- Restrooms: Restrooms are provided in the shower house for campers' convenience.
- Self Check-in/Payment: The campground operates on a self check-in system, with a drop box for payment (cash or credit card info). While one reviewer expressed concerns about leaving credit card details, this system allows for flexible arrival times, which was "super accommodating to our late night arrival with no prior reservations."
- Water and Electric Hookups: For RVs, water and electric hookups are standard. However, one review mentioned needing to "borrow hoses to run from one campsite to another where we had already set the camper up because the water spigot didn't turn on," suggesting potential variability or maintenance needs for individual spigots.
- Pet-Friendly: The campground appears to be pet-friendly, as there is a park across the street mentioned by a reviewer, which is suitable for walking dogs.
- Accommodating for Late Arrivals: A significant highlight is the campground's flexibility and ease of use for late-night arrivals, even without prior reservations, which is a major convenience for travelers.
- Spacious Sites: Reviews consistently mention spacious sites, which is a considerable advantage for RVers, allowing for easy maneuvering and comfortable setup.
- Basic but Functional Amenities: While not luxurious, the availability of a shower house with hot showers and restrooms meets essential camping needs. One review noted, "Facilities were basic but clean."
- Proximity to Upton: The campground’s location just outside Upton provides easy access to the town's amenities and local attractions, including Upton City Park, the Red Onion Museum, and the Cedar Pines Golf Course.
- Gateway to the Black Hills: Upton is considered a gateway to the Wyoming Black Hills, offering nearby access to iconic sites like Devils Tower National Monument (approximately 30-45 minutes drive), Keyhole State Park (known for fishing and water activities), and the Thunder Basin National Grassland (popular for hunting and off-roading).
- Quiet, Rural Setting: The campground offers a peaceful and quiet environment, characteristic of rural Wyoming, allowing for a relaxing stay away from city noise.
- Family-Owned and Operated: Goose Landing LLC is noted as a family-owned and operated business, often implying a more personal touch and dedication to guest experience, despite any operational quirks.
- Year-Round Operation: Information suggests the campground operates year-round, offering flexibility for visits during different seasons, including the hunting season when cabins are also available.

Customer Reviews
Super accommodating to our late night arrival with no prior reservations. Beautiful site. Everything I was looking for in a camp ground for passing through. Reply: Feel free to use the photo and review!
We have had reservations for a year told we had spots 304,305 and 306. No such spot exists. We stayed here about 2 years ago and had one small pine tree for shade so we specifically asked for spots under the trees near the shower house. Well we parked by the shower house, no trees they have cut them all down. We used the shower house and we were thrilled to have it. Sign says we have to clean showers and commode after each use and clean the floors and wipe down the sinks. Had to hunt for the toilet tissue, so it's kind of an original experience.we have been here 5 days and still haven't seen anybody to pay for our stay. There is a drop box and a blank form where they ask you to leave your credit card info including the security code( nope) OR you can put cash money in an envelope and drop it in the box. I wonder who will get it? (nope) nothing at all for kids to do. Our 8 year old grandson was pretty bored. We had to borrow hoses to run from one campsite to another where we had already set the camper up because the water spigot didn't turn on. I am sorry for such a negative post but this campsite is terribly overpriced at $44 per night.
The whole family packed up this weekend and traveled to this one of a kind destination for Thier first ever battle of the bands/Woodstock. It was absolutely amazing everyone is so friendly and down to earth. They made us feel right at home the campground is huge and the scenery is breath taking so close to the stars at night. The archery/event center super cool. We are already planning our next little adventure to this wonderful place. We want to thank everyone here for being so hospitable . If I could give ten star I would.
Our entire wedding party stayed here. We rented some of the cabins and they were very nice and well maintained. Most of the spaces for campers are pull thru which was super super nice! The constant improvements on the space was fun to see. Im excited to see what they do with it! We will definitely be using goose landing again when we head out that way!
We have stayed here 2 years in a row now and will be back next year!! Genelle is the best and I always accommodating. This place has the absolute best shower house we have ever been too, and we have been to alot as we do alot of camping in Missouri where we are from. If you need a place to stay this is the best place!!!
