Absolutely love this place, campground is located right next to the Canyon, very clean pit toilets, peaceful place to spend the night, great views all day long as the sun lights up the canyon.
Easy to access with any vehicle. Camping is $10 per night and you just park wherever you want along the rim, no designated sites (I’m sure they have a capacity but it was fairly quiet on a Sunday in May). Incredible views!! Highly recommend camping so you can be there for sunset and sunrise! Dog friendly, garbage cans and clean bathrooms.
Getting to the park is easy and the road is good for any size of vehicle. Once you’re at the park and leave the day use area, the road gets a bit chunky (pavement ends) but is passable for a Class A (to an extent). You can camp along the rim of the canyon wherever there’s a fire ring and there’s several that are well distanced from each other. This is dry camping, no water, no electric and no RV dump. There are trash cans (33 gallon residential type) at various picnic benches. You can hike along the rim until your legs get weary or you can prop open your most comfortable camping chair and enjoy the views. Regardless, the serenity and tranquility will surely recharge your soul. It’s a little off the beaten path so to drive out, stare, take pictures and go home *might* not be worth it but if you’re looking for a place to camp a couple nights for $10 a night, this is it. And the night sky is absolutely amazing. There are (clean) vault toilets for those that travel light.
I did not expect to stay in Utah as long as I did on my road trip but...this campground is soooooo amazing I stayed an extra 2 days. It was so worth it! I camped in the winter and though the temps dropped pretty low, I was prepared for the cold weather. This campground is so Peaceful, so gorgeous, and super close to Monument Valley, Mexican Hat, and Valley of the Gods. Gooseneck was not over crowded and those that camped there were very respectful. Anytime I am in the area I will always camp there.
Wonderful place to boondock. The views, day and night are breathtaking. The only issue I have is that someone left all this trash in the fire pit instead of throwing it away in a trash can a few yards away. Lazy people!!!!!!!!
Might get windy, so keep that in mind if you're sleeping in RTT or regular tent. But can't beat the view. Campsites are far from each other so nobody will bother you.
Great views and inexpensive campground. Good cell signals. Clean vault toilets.
