Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

Gordons Campground in Wolcottville offers a distinct camping option that can be particularly suitable for certain Indiana locals. Its primary advantage is its convenient location within northern Indiana, making it an accessible destination for many Hoosiers seeking a nearby outdoor escape without extensive travel. This ease of access is a significant draw for those looking for spontaneous weekend trips or a quick break from their routine.

The campground's suitability for locals also stems from its social atmosphere and recreational offerings. Events like karaoke nights and seasonal attractions, such as the described Fourth of July fireworks show, indicate a lively environment that can appeal to campers who enjoy communal activities and entertainment as part of their outdoor experience. The presence of a playground, even with its retro charm, caters to families with children, providing a dedicated space for younger campers to enjoy themselves.

Furthermore, for Indiana residents who prioritize a casual, perhaps more laid-back camping style where social interaction is a key component, Gordons Campground could be a good fit. While some past feedback points to aspects like noise levels and maintenance, the campground's willingness to accommodate needs, such as early departure refunds, suggests an effort towards guest satisfaction. It's important for prospective visitors from Indiana to manage their expectations and understand that this campground may cater more towards a lively, party-friendly environment, particularly on weekends or holidays, as some reviews suggest. However, for those seeking a convenient location with social opportunities and a less stringent, perhaps more "party-oriented" atmosphere, Gordons Campground offers a unique niche in the Indiana camping landscape. It's a place where you can enjoy local festivities and straightforward access to an outdoor setting right here in Indiana.

My family and I were traveling through Indiana on our way to Cedar Point in Ohio on our school bus and were looking last minute for a place to park overnight. We came across Gordon's campground and are pleased we decided to stay the night! It was fourth of July and we were able to enjoy karaoke and a peaceful camp site. The playground was very retro and fine for the kids to play! The staff were exceptional and we will definitely stay here again!

Not family friendly. Loud sites multiple nights in a row (we stayed 3 nights) until 2:30am with people partying, yelling, loud music, cussing and smoking. The quiet time was 12am. Multiple times we smelled weed throughout the campground. When talking to other campers, they made us aware this is how it always is. Also, my entire family (13 family members total) got flea bites all over our ankles NOT mosquito bites.we didn’t get a single mosquito bite anywhere else on our body only flea bites on our ankles. Pets are allowed, so be prepared to wake up to dogs howling and barking in the morning and random dog poop piles. Some women’s bathroom doors wouldn’t lock and bathrooms honestly just look awful (old chipping paint, rust, no sign on doors toilet paper rolls don’t roll and super hard to get toilet paper off. Shower only runs for about 10 second increments then you have to keep hitting the button to keep water running. Can definitely tell that this is a party campground and not well kept. We spoke with owner about why we were leaving 1 day early and she refunded us our last night, which was nice, but super sad this place was like this. Definitely not as kid friendly as expected or as nice as I remember years and years ago. Won’t be coming back. Pros: great fireworks show & karaoke night.

Don’t think about walking or talking to each other around the campsite. Seasonal campers will try to assault you, just to cause a problem. I’ve been camping my whole life, never having to deal with 50 year old alcoholics grabbing our shirts than trying to throw us to the ground because they’ve got nothing better to do with their night. Remember the locals own the place, not the guy living in a house with a foundation.

We have been coming every fall for about 7 years with a large group. They have made changes for the better recently to the bathrooms and filled in some low spots that were mud pits even when it's dry. They have always been nice to us and make us feel welcomed. We will be back next year.

This a great campground. We attend a Coleman collectors gathering every year. Every year, the folks who run this place really take care of our group. Thank you, Gordon's staff.
