Customer Reviews
The location of this spot to Hood River and surrounds is great. It is small, the sites are tight, and there is very little privacy. Essentially you are camping in a parking lot. But we knew this going in and found the place just fine. Washrooms are very clean, showers are piping hot. Yes you have to pay for the showers 2.5 minutes for 25 cents but it is cheap and discourages water wasting. Wifi was excellent! The train does come through often and you do hear it, but we were blasting the fan and white noise in our trailer and it didn’t bother us in the least. The trains do not blow any horns. The highway noise was also fine as this side of the gorge is much quieter than the I84 on the Oregon side. Guests were all very quiet and no obnoxious campers in site. We would definitely stay again. One star off because it is pretty expensive and there was no recycling.
The park itself is clean but holy moly the noise from the train EVERY hour all night is awful. Don't expect to get a minute of sleep. If you do happen to nod off you will be woken up in a few minutes by the next train. We ended up losing the $$$ for a night stay because we couldn't take the noise all night and had to leave early. I just reread the entire site page because I see comments from the staff where they apologize and say they try to make guests aware of the train noise but I can't find it anywhere on their site nor was I informed when I made the reservation. Also everytime you want to take the bridge to the Oregon/Hood River side it will cost you $3.50 BOTH WAYS! I would not recommend this RV park unless screeching trains all night won't bother you and you don't mind $7.00 charge to get to and from anything in Hood River.
VERY nicely designed and maintained small park. Smooth paved streets and parking pads with lush green grass between. Super nice, big dog park on the lower level, again all green grass! The downside is the noise. Busy highway on the North and train tacks on the south. With everything closed up, it’s doable but still enough to need ear plugs. Otherwise, a really nice place!
Clean enough RV Campground. Noise was tolerable. The onsite manager was a problem. We pulled in after hours (5:30 PM) and tried to follow all the check in instructions with no luck. There was a sign outside the office that said to call or text a phone number with questions. I did this and the manager came out and chewed me out for parking our trailer prior to paying. I apologized and she continued to be very rude. The instructions said to pick a vacant spot from their outside board and then pay online. I tried that, it didn’t work. I was trying to pay so I texted. Big mistake!! If you decide to stay here make sure you don’t park before paying.
As another review mentioned, if you love waking up at every hour of the night due to LOUD trains and highway traffic, this will be perfect for you! The train tracks are extremely close to the tent sites and you hear them go by all night long. You can’t sleep for more than an hour before one passes by. This is such a poorly placed campsite area. Additionally, you have to pay for showers. That isn’t the worst thing, but should be included due to the high price and loud noise issue. $35 per night is way too expensive for what you get here. There are much better campsites that are quiet, have a beautiful view, better amenities, and are peaceful for a lesser cost. We ended up eating the $35 and drove home the second day. Did not want to spend another night there. Would not recommend!
