Stop here first for your visit to the Grand Canyon. There is a line to get in to have the rangers give you points of interest. They also have maps inside. There is also two videos that play after one another that you can watch in an air conditioned auditorium. We watched one and my kids loved it. This is the actual visitor center you ant to go to, not the one outside of the park. If the first parking lots are full, there is overflow parking just down the road and to the right. The bus shuttles have a drop off and pick up here with the schedule you can see. Mather point is also at this location. Two different outside restroom buildings. They were ok for cleanliness. Lots of people visiting even on a weekday. The gift shop is large here outside and you can get your National Parks passport stamp here as well as other places around the park. I took a photo inside the visitors center for all of the places you go for stamps. Be aware of the hours for each building as we were told one closed at 6, but it was 5. This visitor center gift shop does NOT offer a military discount. They tried to sell me a “pass” of some sort to buy to be able to get the military discount. I politely declined. All other National parks offer it and I wasn’t going to buy into another membership. I found it strange. Enjoy the beauty here!
If you haven't been to the Grand Canyon then this is a must see and if you have been already. I recommend planning your next visit. Breathtaking and awe-inspiring are just a few words that come to mind when visiting the Grand Canyon.
South entrance easy access pay before you go in. We had a little difficulty navigating maps. It was exactly what I thought it was level and then you looked down into the canyon. Very easy for someone who's disabled to get around. There's some beautiful buildings made from the natural stone and then the visitor center had a little movie you could view and then the walk to view. The canyon was five minutes. The gas was double the price there was a little store there where we could get lunch.
Great family visit. A 4 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas. The views are incredible and worth the visit. The only thing that was not great was the line to get into the park was about almost a 1-hour wait to get through the park entrance. Plenty to see and do. Be prepared to walk alot. Shuttle bus service for the different points to see at the park was very efficient.
Amazing place, amazing national park! No words can describe the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon! Indeed a true representation of America the beautiful!
