Stumbled upon this gem looking for a different beach. It's a nice hike through the woods and over the dunes, probably a mile and a half to the beach. Well worth the hike! I felt like I was miles from anywhere!
This really is the good looking side of Lake Michigan lol. The area is beautiful and scenic. There's so many paths coming off the main paved trail. And all one way or another lead down to the lake. Get ready to get your steps in as the sand is deep and everywhere.
I love hiking here in the winter when the sand is frozen, much easier to get over the dunes 😀 Some of the trail is paved, but much prefer getting off into the dunes and wooded areas.
Park includes few trails and a view of the lake, however to be closer to the shore you would need to leave the park. Overall I ended up hiking and took some pictures .
1st time here- was NOT prepared to hike dunes but I survived! Beautiful and serene despite the gloomy weather!
