Customer Reviews
This Campground is mostly seasonal campers, most were very friendly. The owners were also very friendly, there is a long list of policies and rules, nothing to unreasonable. It's close to Portsmouth and Hampton Beach. The only issue was all sites are under mostly pine trees which are very beautiful, until we realized the Pine trees were dripping pine pitch all over the camper and our vehicle. It also got all over our shoes. We went to the store and got some Goo Gone which did clean most of it up, we then covered what we could with table cloths and extra coverings we had in the camper. It was a bit disappointing. The site looks like it had not been raked or cleaned in some time. I'm giving 3 stars because it wasn't the best experience but everyone was nice , it was a quiet place, and close to attractions.
If only I could rate it 10 stars, because they deserve it! All members of the staff are welcoming, friendly and beyond helpful! This campground is very clean, quiet and, well maintained! I'm glad I don't have to travel more than half an hour to get here, although I definitely would! The pool is always clean. Weekend activities are enjoyable and not rambunctious and interrupting if you choose not to participate. Their supplies like firewood and, ice are readily available and fairly priced. Tonight a new couple with a travel trailer arrived and parked at 6:30pm. Darkness set before they were set up. Just as I was about to offer a hand their head of maintenance man came quietly rolling along in his golf cart to help them finish setting up before quiet time at 11pm. No matter where I end up moving to I will travel here for a weekend vacation!
Stayed there 1 night while traveling home. Only place I could get a reservation. As per the sign, it opened in 1964 - don't think they've done much upgrading since then. Bathrooms were old & very outdated. Had to pay for showers. OK but at least have a coin machine that doesn't take forever to figure out. Sink faucet was loose, was afraid pipe would break & could only wash one hand at a time, other had to hold the faucet down to get water. 3 toilet stalls, 1 had no lock. 2nd had a hook that was too short - couldn't latch door, 3rd had a hook that was too long - couldn't latch door!! I figured about $2.00 in hardware would have fixed all 3 doors!! Way too many rules - hubby & I BOTH had to sign 2 pages of rules & regs - what about the owners taking responsibility on having decent restroom facilities!!
We were seasonal here a few years ago. We went all out on cleaning our site to get our deposit back. No damage to property, not as little as a pine needle left on our site, paid for season in full cash so no $$$ owed. When we left they said we owed taxes so our deposit would not be refunded! This seemed odd especially since we paid the old site owners taxes of $100 when they brought us the bill and we were only there May-Sept, $350 for taxes seemed steep! So we went to the town hall to get informed how the taxes on a camp site worked. The town looked us up and gave us a bill for $62 which we promptly took back to camp with questions???? The new owners refused to give us our deposit back even after seeing the bill! Would of cost more than $350 to take it to court so we ate our losses but that is a lot of money to steal for someone! Hope they don’t do this to others!
I spent a week here. Staff and common places were nice and clean. Our camping site was even and spacious. It's better during the week, you may have rude neighbors making a lot of noise during busy days (weekend). Train racks are close, so if you are a light-sleeper (like me) it will wake you up three times during the nigh time. It's not really the campsite's fault.
We have never been to Exeter before and were very impressed with the town. It was fun going into the shops, restaurants and bakeries. We were also close to several historical buildings. The campground was a short drive or bike ride to all this and it was clean. That is always my favorite part. The clean bathrooms always make the stay more enjoyable. We had a large site and it was a peaceful place to stay. The owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I'm hoping we are able to get back there very soon.
