Green Granite Inn, Ascend Hotel Collection

This hotel looks like it might be nice based off of the lobby UNTIL you get into your room. It looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time - really cleaned. Finger and hand smears all over the walls and doors. So many items broken in the room - lamp shades, bed platform broken and stained, bathroom fan, stained bed sheets, stained cloth on the around the makeshift platform - I did not feel great staying there and will not be in the future. On the plus side the staff seemed nice.

Overall don’t waste your money. We opted to get a suite and let me just say if that’s what you call a suite then they’re mistaken. First off, you walk in and to the left is this long about 7 feet long vanity with only 1 sink. 1 SINK! Who needs 7’ of counter space? Add a second sink! Second, the chair at the desk was falling apart, the leather was all torn off and you were sitting on the yellow foam. Third the pull down faucet in the sink was broken and hung almost down into the sink, doesn’t retract, the shower curtain rod was loose and seemed like it could fall at any second, the shower head was awful, one of those $7 Home Depot Specials….again….this was a suite and overall just awful. Would not recommend unfortunately, we wanted to love it based off location to the shopping but just can’t.

Stayed up here over the weekend. I was weary of this property based off the reviews but decided to give it a chance. The rooms weren’t terrible. They were for the most part clean. Each of the boxsprings had what looked like blood splatter drops on the sides but I’m sure it was just coffee or something. The headboards are barely attached and they also smack off the wall pretty loud, even after pulling the bed away from the wall, headboard still leaned on the wall. When we were having some intimate time, the neighbors started banging the wall back. Could be solved by putting 2 pillows between headboard and wall. Also, adjusting yourself in the middle of the night, the headboard would rattle the wall. The heat/ac system is either super hot or super cold. The shower was clean and the water was nice and hot. When we went to the pool area to use the hot tub, the water in the hot tub was warm, not hot and the jets barely pushed out a good stream. Went to use the free Starbucks machine in lobby and all it did was spit out hot water. Needs some improvement. Some of the doors leading to the rooms in the main building looked like they got kicked in by a swat team.

Totally disappointed. We should have know when walking down hallway to our room and seeing not 1 but 2 dirty cleaning rags lying on the floor in separate areas. Door frames to rooms busted up, walls with mudding patches on them. The lobby was cute, that was the only nice thing. The room was so gross, and old. Outdated. The bathroom had a wad of black hair in the bathroom shower. So clearly it had not been cleaned. We pulled back the comforter on the bed and you could tell the sheets were used and not changed. More than 20 strands of the same black hair in the bed. We called the front desk and asked for a room that had been cleaned. We were told they didn't have any more as they had empty rooms but short staffed and had no one to clean them. That most were on vacation. We ended up going to the janitor's closet that was open getting our sheets and making the bed ourselves. A short time later a maintenance man came to our room carrying sheets for us. The air-conditioner had some weird disco-flashing light inside, we had to cover it with a towel so we could sleep, and the refrigerator was incredibly loud. The mattress was very old, had no support, and needed to be replaced. We ended up getting a refund, but it took my husband checking when we checked out. Dylan the original gentleman who helped us said he would refund us. But at checkout, we saw that he never did it and we were being charged still. Beware before you book. Also, it wasn't just us, when leaving a lady asked me how our room was because she asked for a new room and they were giving her ours when we checked out. That hers was not cleaned either.

Horribly disappointed in this booking. Pictures looked promising and overall rating made this place seem decent for the price. However upon checking in we waited a while in the lobby for someone to come out to the front desk so we could check in. When arriving to the room, we were hit with an overwhelming stench of cigarettes, mind you, we had our baby with us. No screens on the windows to air out the room properly without fear of someone crawling through the window while we were away and stealing our bags. Chain on the door was broken, so no back up security. Room was outdated, paint chips and scuffs all over the walls. Lamps were dim and flickered. There was a quarter of a roll of toilet paper with no extra rolls. Bathroom was rusted, moldy, and plain dirty. Dead bugs found in corners of the room. Box mattresses were stained so deeply. Mattress was uncomfortable and squeaked with any movement. Carpets were filthy. We were notified at check in that they don’t clean the rooms, take out the trash, or refresh towel daily, so if you’re staying longer than a night, good luck! Only positive is the location, you’re directly on the road that leads to the center in town. But keep in mind, you’re close to the street and you will hear every passing truck. If you’re planning a trip in North Conway, do yourself a favor and spend the extra money at another hotel.
