Grizzly Creek Redwoods Campground Introduce
Nestled in the heart of California's redwood country, Grizzly Creek Redwoods Campground provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the towering beauty of ancient giant sequoias. Located just off Highway 36 near Carlotta, this charming campground offers easy access to some of the region's most breathtaking natural wonders while maintaining a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for outdoor enthusiasts.
While the campground is conveniently situated close to major highways, it does come with the caveat of being adjacent to a busy road that sees frequent logging and dump truck traffic, especially during the night. Guests have noted the need for earplugs to ensure a peaceful sleep. Despite this minor inconvenience, Grizzly Creek Redwoods Campground offers a wealth of activities and amenities that make it a popular choice among nature lovers.
- Accommodations: Spacious and clean campsites with ample room for tents, RVs, and vehicles
- Amenities: Coin-operated showers available for guests
- Recreational Opportunities: Abundant hiking trails through old-growth redwoods and a nearby swimming hole perfect for cooling off during warmer days
- Day-Use Facilities: Picnic areas, restrooms, and interpretive trails suitable for family outings
Grizzly Creek Redwoods Campground is ideal for those seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure. While the highway noise can be disruptive, the campground's proximity to stunning natural attractions like the iconic California redwoods makes it a worthwhile destination for nature enthusiasts.

Would be a wonderful campground except for the noisy highway that goes right next to it. Large logging and dump trucks rolling all night long. Had to wear ear plugs to sleep. Other than that there is a nice swimming hole and great hikes through ancient giant redwoods. Campsites are roomy and clean. Coin op showers.
Grizzly Creek has nice campsites, okay coin pay showers, and also has enough hiking and swimming for day use. We stopped by for a shower, picnic and a walk over the summer bridge and through the redwoods.
One of the worst campsites I’ve ever been to. They situated ton of campsites right next to the highway where cars, trucks and semis full of lumber are blowing past you at 60+ right over your head. It not only felt dangerous but also incredibly loud and not relaxing at all. I decided to leave due to these issues. I also think other campsites farther away will face loud vehicle noise going by due to how close the entire campground is to the highway. Do not recommend this place at all.
This is a beautiful spot. It is right next to highway 36 so car noise can be bothersome. I tuned it out. The creek is clear and cool. The trails are close and easy walks through the forest, the old growth trees are further down the road at Cheatham Grove. Shower was hot and worked well. Beware of the payphone. My 30 second call was $20.30 on my cc which took a 20 minute call to have reversed. Total scam from the phone company WiMacTel.
Beautiful campground right on the river with flushing toilets and showers the only bad is its also right on highway 36
