We stayed two nights on one of the waterfront tent sites and it was without a doubt one of the most beautiful places I've ever woken up. The mountains, the water, the wilderness are all right at hand. The beach was rocky and there was quite a bit of seaweed along the shore. We definitely got in for a dip and didn't regret it. Lovely spot for a swim and we saw lots of kayaks and boats going out while we were there. One thing I wasn't expecting was the condensation on the tent in the morning. We had borrowed equipment that wasn't water tight and we woke up a bit damp each morning despite the beautiful days and nights. Most tents (and campers) will tolerate the moisture just fine. We didn't get to hike the Stanleyville trail, but we'd love to come back and do it next time we're in the area. The cabins looked great too. The bathrooms are at the top of the campground from the waterfront tent sites, so prepare for a few bedtime and early morning hill-climbs! Great spot!
We stayed in one of their lovely cabins. Very clean and cozy - complete with a tiny wood stove. Steps from one of the nicest comfort stations in any park I have been in. Very close to the water as well. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Incredible campground! I stayed 4 nights in site 12 and 1 night at a walk in site right on the ocean. The views are unbeatable. If you want to chose a campground in Gros Morne based off scenery alone, this is the one to choose. There's two comfort stations on either side of the campground. They're beautifully maintained, super clean and they both have private washroom stalls and shower stalls. There's indoor eating areas in both stations too. The sites are well maintained. The fire pits are on the small side but useable. It's quiet and peaceful. Wake up early enough and you'll catch the sun rising over the mountains on the ocean and see the mist over the water. Only 4 stars because this seems to be the only campground in Gros morne without wifi near the comfort station and service is very hit or miss. It makes it difficult to check the weather, plan days out, stay in contact with those at home, etc. Stanleyville trail starts right from the campground and Lomond river and Stuckless pond trails are a short drive away. If you want to access anywhere else in Gros morne it's a bit further away. You're about 40 min from Rocky Harbour but I drove out there all 5 days and with the scenery, the length of the drive is no problem.
Beautiful campground away from high noises and spacious lots. Bathrooms and showers very clean and also has a nice common area for people to use. Great base camp for near by trails. Awesome staff. Thanks
Amaaaazing. The view was fabuloooouuusss. Water grass toilets sun clouds parking blue skies big sites and hot showers. Even a common area! The "host" at the welcome booth was not super helpful but the site had everything we needed.
