This is not a typical campground with individual sites; rather, it is a **dedicated, self-contained group facility** designed to accommodate large numbers of people with a blend of rustic charm and essential modern utilities. Located within Oklahoma's first and largest state park, Group Camp #1 offers exclusivity and scale that few other venues can match.
The camp has a long history, with many of its original structures dating back to the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) era of the 1930s, imbuing it with a genuine sense of Oklahoma heritage. Recent updates to the facilities, including the main kitchen and meeting areas, have enhanced its functionality while preserving its historical character. It provides a comprehensive solution for groups, offering a central gathering space, dedicated sleeping cabins, and essential RV hookups, all within a beautiful, secluded setting on the shores of Lake Murray. For any Oklahoma group seeking a dedicated, large-scale venue, Group Camp #1 at Lake Murray State Park is the quintessential choice. What makes it unequivocally worth choosing is its **unmatched capacity and full-service, exclusive setup**. You are not just renting campsites; you are renting an entire private retreat center. Been coming here since 2015. Recently been more updates and new cabins were made. Meeting hall is fresh now. Prices have increased dramatically though to reflect new facilities. Hope it doesn't get too high or my group will have to take our business elsewhere (they've been coming since 2009). We had the chance to take our wedding photos here as well since we were already renting the campsite!
This is our spot for our family reunion. We have private lake access. The kitchen has ac and is pretty large with walk in fridge, large stove, oven, freezer. Plenty of cleaning and prepping space. There are several cabins with twin size beds. Some cabins are smaller others are large. Community bathrooms with showers. Camper hookup sites. Two main things I wish they’d fix... the amount of wasp nests around the grounds and ac in the cabins. But overall this is a great place for large group camping.
It's the 3 or 4th year my grandiose have attended a church camp there. They like it. Not the non-ac cabins. Most have ac, some do not.
Amazing experience....Beautiful place to go camping 🏕. Restrooms, Showers and Cabins were so nice and clean. Our Girl Scouts had some much fun.
For Camping in a big group it was wonderful, the cabin we got even had AC, the diner hall was fantastic for cooking, I believe it holds 92 .
