While the specific address provided, 2497+26, Churchill, MN 56265, USA (a geographical plus code), places the facility near the community of Churchill, this location is nestled within the scenic outdoor resources common to the Minnesota State Park network in the western or central parts of the state. The 56265 ZIP code area is associated with the Ortonville region, suggesting proximity to some of Minnesota’s rich prairie and river landscapes.
Accessibility is a key characteristic of state park group camps. Though set in a natural area, Group Camp 2 is often described as being very close to the main park road. What is Worth Choosing Group Camp 2?
For any large entity—a scouting troop, a school field trip, a church retreat, or a large multi-generational family—Group Camp 2 is the superior choice because it eliminates the logistical headache of coordinating numerous individual campsites. Its value lies in its dedicated infrastructure for large gatherings within the safety and management of the esteemed Minnesota State Park system.
The combination of size, shade, and the centralized covered shelter makes it inherently functional. Unlike booking five separate campsites, here you have one cohesive area with dedicated facilities for dining and activities. This greatly simplifies organization and promotes group cohesion, which is the entire point of a group camp. Furthermore, the ability to effortlessly join in on specific park events, such as the memorable luminary walk referenced by locals, adds significant experiential value that individual campsites simply cannot offer.
While it is noted that the site is close to the road and therefore may not be the most private, this trade-off is a practical exchange for the ease of access and the proximity to the main park facilities. For organized groups prioritizing collective function, safety, and a shared experience amidst Minnesota's natural beauty, Group Camp 2 provides an irreplaceable resource and the perfect setting for your next large outdoor event.

This is a very large and good group camp area. It is very spread out and is well shaded. The camp has its own covered picnic shelter and many picnic tables. It has a pit toilet but the campground bathrooms are not very far. It is very close tonthe road and not very private.
Was there for the annual luminary walk. Was a wonderful experience. Wish it had been a little colder, the path was a little slushy and muddy in spots. But all in all I would definitely attend again. Was a beautiful night spent outdoors among the beauty of our local State Park.
Easy access to upper camp ground to go shower. Good place for fishing.
