Guadalupe Mountains National Park offers some of the best scenic drives in Texas, with breathtaking mountain views and several key viewpoints that you can’t say no to. My Highlights are Guadeloupe Peak viewpoint, El Capitan viewpoint. Even without hiking you can see the most beautiful views everywhere. Take the scenic drive and make sure to stop at view points. Great views for some insta worthy pics.
Extremely pretty mountains for TX. Ability to access the park is slim- only a few areas to pull off and hike. Parking lots are generally small. The gated areas all close automatically at 5pm, so stay sharp on time (a little tricky as if your coming from NM there is a time difference halfway through the park).
Guadalupe Mountains National Park was pretty cool. We were limited to our exploration of the park due to our two vizslas and what trails we could go on. We got there shortly after sunrise and before the visitor center opened. It was peaceful and quiet with the beauty all around.
Did the Guadalupe peak hike. Its 8.4 miles round trip. We all were around 25 yrs of age and don’t excercise regularly. With that being said we took 7 hrs to finish the hike. First 2 miles ascent is gaining elevation so might be bit out of breath but descent you have to be very careful to not sprain your leg as the trail is full of stones. But the hike experience is worth it. If you are here you must do this hike.
