The Guadalupe River is beautiful! The park campsites are a little closer together than I am used to but it’s not that bad. The campsite is spacious, however the RV parking area is limited to 20’. The restrooms are super clean, by far the cleanest of any other parks I’ve been to. They also have men and women private showers with dead bolt locks which is a plus especially if someone has small children!
Camped at site 26 for a night and really enjoyed the close proximity to a trail head, and a short walk over to the restroom (without it being directly visible). The restrooms were incredibly clean, and there are separate shower rooms. The highlight of the trip was having an armadillo stumble across our site. Also highly recommend checking the calendar and joining the weekend guided nature walk for Honey Creek nature area. It is only accessible with the guides, and we learned so much about the trees, rocks, water, etc during the 2.5 hrs.
Our family of four had a wonderful time on the river trail, enjoying scenic nature views and spotting wildlife. There are plenty of spots by the river to relax; bringing your own chair to enjoy the shade is a good idea. The restrooms were clean and conveniently located, and the playground kept the kids entertained, with a picnic table nearby making it ideal for a family outing.
Stopped here for a brief visit after Natural Bridge Caverns yesterday to get a feel for the park for future camping trips. We thought Turkey Sink seemed like it had the best options. The Honey Creek Natural Area was closed so we didn’t get to see it but the ranger I spoke to said it was beautiful so I think we’ll definitely come back. The Discovery Center closed 10 minutes before we arrived, unfortunately, but it looked fun. My only concern were these floating ‘oil patches’ on parts of the river’s shore. Not sure if this is typical but it was a little disconcerting to let my kids swim in. The souvenir selection they had was great and I’ve included pictures of their patches, stickers, hiking medallions and magnets since I always look for these beforehand but never find them
Love this river! Beautiful spot to go chill out, eat some food (bring it back with ya) and smoke an inconspicuous joint away from everyone so you don't upset the hive mind. Water is fresh n clear, though currently is at a really low level, needs some good rain to beef up this kettle guts.
