Hall County Park Introduce
šļø Introduction / Overview
Welcome to the peaceful escape of Hall County Park, a beautifully maintained public campground located right in the heart of Nebraska, on the outskirts of Grand Island. Known locally by some as the George H. Clayton Campground, this county-operated facility provides an exceptional experience for both temporary travelers and local residents seeking a convenient, clean, and amenity-rich outdoor retreat. The park offers two distinct camping areas: a popular, well-equipped section for Recreational Vehicles (RVs) and a separate, more rustic zone dedicated to tent camping. Operating on a first-come, first-served basis, Hall County Park is especially valued by the Nebraska RV community for its deep, paved lots, generous spacing, and modern, clean facilities. It strikes the perfect balance, offering a tranquil, rural atmosphere while maintaining quick access to the services, attractions, and I-80 travel corridor that Central Nebraska is known for.
The camping season typically runs from mid-April through mid-October, allowing Nebraska residents to enjoy the parkās serene setting during the region's best weather. With a friendly on-site presence, clear self-pay registration, and a focus on maintaining a high quality of landscaping and cleanliness, Hall County Park stands out as one of Grand Island's premier camping destinations.
š Location and Accessibility
Hall County Park is strategically located in a quiet area southwest of downtown Grand Island, ensuring both easy accessibility and a peaceful environment.
Physical Address: 3138 W Schimmer Dr, Grand Island, NE 68801, USA
The park is highly accessible, situated just a few miles from Interstate 80 (I-80), making it a favorite and convenient stop for RV travelers passing through Nebraska. You can quickly reach the park from the nearest I-80 exit (Exit 312), minimizing travel time on local roads.
While offering a peaceful rural setting, the campground is also right next to the famous Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer, providing an immediate, high-value local attraction for visitors. The park's main gates operate under seasonal hoursāgenerally from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PMāto maintain security and quiet hours. For campers who need to return after the gates are closed, an outside parking area is provided just east of the main entrance, and a code is available for authorized after-hours access, ensuring flexibility for travelers. The combination of easy highway access and proximity to essential services in Grand Island gives this campground a significant locational advantage for Nebraskans.

Customer Reviews
Very clean nice rv park with cement pads. Easy to navigate. Elec at site and water and dump station nearby although dump station wa s nt open when we stayed. Self pay $30/night at kiosk across from camp host. Very nice walking trails.
Exceptionally well-kept campground and park. Deep, paved lots that are spaced very generously. The water fill station is at the entrance, with the dump at the exit, making it very convenient. The camp host was polite and stopped over to quickly explain the registration process. The bathrooms and hot shower were clean. Will return when in the area.
Someone is doing a really great job of maintaining and updating this park. The plants and flowers are just gorgeous. A beautiful place to take family pictures. The waterfall and gazebo area is such a tranquil place to sit and meditate and get away from the busyness of life. Itās a perfect place to camp with kids because the playgrounds are close and they can ride their bikes on the newly paved paths. Itās my favorite place to walk. Just gorgeous and tranquil and itās never crowded.
Quiet clean campground. The park is really nice with all the trees. Very lovely. This park will stay on my list when I get more time to explore Grand Island. First come, first serve so the sites fill up fast. The Stuhr Museum and Railroad Town is just north of the park and is worthy of an extra days stay.
My wife and I got our wedding photos taken here by my aunt. The park has always been very pretty and our photos turned out great.
