Explore family camping activities that bring all ages together, from outdoor games and scenic hikes to memorable campfire fun that creates lasting memories.
Hamburger Rock Campground is a hidden gem located in Monticello, UT, offering a one-of-a-kind primitive camping experience. Nestled against stunning red rock formations that resemble burger shapes, the campground provides a Flintstone-like atmosphere with breathtaking views of Bears Ears National Monument and proximity to the Canyonlands Needles district.
Visitors can enjoy two pit toilets, fire rings at each campsite, and picnic tables. The campground is ideal for those seeking an off-grid experience, as it lacks hookups, water, and trash receptacles, requiring visitors to practice Leave No Trace principles. With a nightly fee of $15 (half price with a senior annual card), Hamburger Rock Campground is perfect for budget-conscious adventurers.

Cool primitive BLM campground, nestled against red rock formations with views into Bears Ears National Monument and close to Canyonlands Needles district. Two pit toilets, each campsite has a fire ring & picnic table. No hookups, no water available, no trash receptacles. Pack it in, pack it out. $15/night.
One of the more picturesque campgrounds I've stayed at. Campsites are all located in hollow alcoves within the rock formation so you feel very private with the rocks separating you from the adjacent campers. Fun scrambling for kids (and adults alike). It's popular so spots are limited and first come first serve. There is free BLM camping available too further down the road in the canyon.
I first started coming here about 6 years ago. Since then, my friends and I make sure to take at least a few days every year to make it down here. It is a beautiful area with lots of rock formations that you can easily climb and enjoy those gorgeous desert sunrises/sunsets or look at the stars and milky way. The actual campground is a cool rock formation that can accommodate quite a few people. Your other option is to continue driving down the road and there are plenty of pull offs where you can camp for free. There is some wildlife in the area, but we have never been bothered. There are also outhouses which is very nice. I would highly suggest coming in the late spring or early fall when temps are not too hot or cold.
Beautiful! Get there early to secure a spot since it's first come first serve. Lots of people circle the campsite looking for spots. Sound carries so it was a little hard to get to sleep at first with so many ppl driving around. Other than that it was amazing!
