We camped here in mid-July. VERY NICE State Park! 100 campsites all on the water! We were astonished at how few campers there were, so it was very peaceful and private. There are no sewer hookups, but there’s water and electricity, and two dump stations with 2 ports each. We had an amazing view of Lake Thurmond, and we cooled off in the water daily right from our campsite. Not very many boats on such a huge lake, even on the weekend. There aren’t any hiking trails, but you can easily get your steps in walking along the 4 miles of campground roads scoping out all the plentiful campsites. Not sure why this park is t more popular, but we’ll be back! Early fall or late spring when the water is warm but the heat is not so bad would be a great time to visit.
I spent a day here relaxing around the water. The place is very well maintained and clean. I was able to park and get out and walk. I found a spot next to the water to sit and look out over the lake. It was a beautiful, peaceful day
I've been coming here since I was a child and now take my son at least once a year. Campsites and bathrooms are always clean. Most campsites have easy water access.
Great place for camping! We had our first camping experience here because it’s closer to home in case we ran into any issues. It was a great choice! The campsites are spread out nicely to allow more privacy and the park is very peaceful. We saw several deer and our kids enjoyed swimming in the lake. Definitely worth checking out!
This campground is incredibly clean, well-run, and stunning, especially for the price you pay to stay here. Our group stayed in the primitive sites, which gave us basically our own private little peninsula with the beautiful water on three sides of us, allowing us to wake up to the sound of lapping waves each morning. Water sports equipment is delivered right to your campsite and taken away the next day, which I found to be an incredible and unexpected service. Each site was very private. The bathrooms were honestly unbelievably clean for a campsite, and the only negative about them (a very dim light which made a midnight stop a little spooky) was fixed first thing the next morning. I would recommend this spot to literally anyone within a 100 mile radius that wants a quality camping spot.
