This place is stunning. I am from FL originally and have seen beaches. Hammonasset has unmatched raw beauty. Today was one of the closest days of the year so far, and there was so much to explore. We found crabs and had fun collecting all kinds of shells and climbing rocks. The beach area right across from the nature center on Meg's Point is just gorgeous. I would love to come back when the weather is warmer. Bring a bike and you could spend an entire day here.
Big CT state campsite with 400+ sites. Non electric RV sites are nice. Electric sites must be booked 11 month in advance. 7 min walk to beach. Bring your own fire ring or you can rent at camp store.
I love coming to this beach. It's always a great place to take photos, a walk. Just enjoy company or alone time. Today was a beautiful day. Water was warm, and the temperature was enjoyable. Please check it out if you can, spend an hour or the day.
Wonderful campground! But make sure you book on the Mohegan, Podunk, Mohawk side of the campground for new, cleaner and nicer amenities. The beach here is unbelievablely beautiful. Staff is wonderful. And you can even go crabbing along the small river that flows through the campground! We had a fantastic time!
I have visited the park off-season in early October on weekend. Beaches are pretty good but it is the nature component that I was utterly impressed with. Morraine Nature trail is insanely picturesque and photogenic. Plenty of parking adjacent to Meigs Point Nature Center. All park amenities were still open. Quite worth paying out of state fee (required till Oct 31st).
