Hampton Inn Mesa Verde/Cortez

Good location for access to Mesa Verde National Park. However, that is the only good thing I can say about stay. Room smelled terrible. Called manager who politely apologized but also said nothing he can do. Windows don’t open and no way to improve smell. 2 nights we couldn’t wait to get out of the room. Sign says 100% satisfaction guarantee and brought that up and they ignored their own posting. Poor example of a Hampton Inn.

This was my first time staying here and I loved it! I was able to check in on the Hilton Honors app and use my phone as the room/pool/fitness center key. Too cool! The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The decor was modern and beautiful. The staff were wonderful! They were able to get a room ready for me two hours earlier than scheduled. I was having issues with the TV remote and a lady came right up and helped. It was user error and I felt so silly. She was so gracious and let me know if I needed anything they were there to help. I highly recommend this hotel and if I’m ever back in Cortez, this will be my go to!

Pork green chili stew served at breakfast was yummy. The night front desk guy was friendly and nice. The couple of issues were the construction going on and the hot tub being broken.

I will start with the receptionist working the day hours of 8/17 between the times we attempted to check in and call which were 1pm-2:30pm. She was absolutely rude & short to myself & other guests. It was not the message but her delivery that was unprofessional. Also, myself & another guest had been informed one thing at two separate calls about early check in & the receptionist working the hrs noted above stated otherwise & made it clear that if not a Hilton Member then we had no early check in. We attempted to obtain information on how to become a Hilton Member & she was short & not helpful with no information other than we would not be able to obtain it for the check in that day. To the point that we decided to leave & not come back until we thought she may be gone because of how rude she was. Another guest decided to book at another hotel. The night receptionist was very nice & informative about our questions. He made showing up at the hotel a pleasant experience. Rooms were spacious & clean. Full breakfast in a spacious area.

Why 3 stars if everything is 5? We called to make the reservation and we asked if there was a room that had a jacuzzi tub and we were told yes. So we asked for this room and again we were told yes. We get there after 8 hours of driving and they do not even have a room with that type of accommodation. We were too tired to put up any type of fight. The person checking us in was kinda matter of fact about the issue. I am very upset about being lied to when we made the reservation. The guy could have just said we don't have that and it would have been fine. The room was very spacious and clean. The staff at breakfast was simply amazing! The carpets in the halls and elevators need to be replaced. Was it worth what we paid? Yes.
