Hampton Inn Monterey

I love this Hampton inn. Highly recommend. The lobby may not look so grand but at least the rooms were clean and the breakfast options were delicious. The room I stayed in was a 2 queen with a tub shower. The room and bathroom were super clean. The shower head was a little rusty but everything else was very clean. Kudos to housekeeping. The service could be better but there wasn’t many people checked in when I was there and there were only 1-2 person I saw that was staff. Hence why I had to go to front desk to collect any additional stuff I needed. Which was fine. The place is small, so it wasn’t so much of a walk. The location is a little secluded but I never had a parking issue and it’s near an in n out. Despite the location being a little off, the place is small and not having a pool, the whole cleanliness and the quietness of the hotel made it was better than the embassy suites down the road, which is always overcrowded, loud and dirty.

You can’t judge a book by its cover! The outside didn’t look like anything special but the inside was very nice and clean! Room was very nice and clean as well! Beds are super comfortable! Vincent was exceptional at the front desk as well!

We got very pleasant stay for one night. Staff are very nice and friendly. Room is very clean and bed is comfortable. Many restaurants such as Mexican and Thai nearby like 3 to 5 minutes drive. I think fad food chains are even closer. Breakfast is same as Hilton vacation club or Homewood suite.

For reference I am a Diamond member of Hilton which means I stay allot at various Hilton properties. This Hampton was so bad I made a last minute reservation at a completely different company two hours after check in and just took the room cost as a loss leaving the room empty for the entire night. Yuk! The exterior and location of the hotel was sufficient. The staff were friendly enough. Very disappointed in the interior of the hotel!!! The hotel lobby and hall ways had a musty dingy oder throughout. Like a dirty mop with no ventilation. The rooms had no carpet just fabric stretched over concrete. The water pressure in the sink was so low it was not hygienic. There was no microwave in the rooms only one in the lobby to share with the entire hotel which is outrageous really. The beds are spring loaded mattresses not comfortable at all. The tiny heater barely working was located in the bay window surrounded by 3 windows allowing the heat and ac to escape not a smart design. The TV channels were limited satellite tv with no specialty channels like sports or Disney. If I could give this Hampton a 0 stars I would have. I cannot believe that the Hampton brand tolerates this hotel using its name since I believe it damages the reputation of Hilton and Hampton. This hotel is 200 per night hotel is worth maybe 60 per night until they fix all the above. I won’t attempt staying there again before 5-10 years have passed to see if anything changes. I believe they get away with charging this high price because they have little to no competition in the area. It’s a shame really that the Monterey city government charges so much taxes to force down the quality of its hotels. This hotel owner should visit a hotel in the Bay Area to get ideas of what is standard!

The hotel was spotless, offered a great price, and had a nice breakfast. Plus, the free parking was a great bonus. Definitely the best deal in the area—highly recommend!
