Hotel and rooms very clean and nice from recent remodel. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Bed was very comfortable, as it has been for most Hampton’s. Breakfast offerings were lack luster! Limited fresh fruit offered, only bananas. One flavor of yogurt provided in a bowl that really didn’t keep them cold. Most hotels use a small glass door cooler for yogurt, etc. Juice machine OJ dispenser only produced clear liquid. Only highlight of the morning was the coffee, HOT and plenty of it. We have stayed at many Hampton Hotels over the years as our go to place when on the road, but the breakfast experience at the Grand Rapids downtown location fell flat. FYI, parking ramp cost at the hotel is $18/night. I get this extra charge, for a convenient parking ramp at a hotel close to downtown. VERY close to a 5 star rating, but the breakfast experience was disappointing!
When entering the hotel the front desk person couldn’t find our reservation a basically said we didn’t book with this location. I felt like I couldn’t be right about us booking this location but finally she was able to find it saying it was a glitch in the system. After that we asked about the late check out and was told they didn’t have a fee for it even though I had an email stating they did and couldn’t ask til the morning about it. This morning my husband went down to breakfast and asked again. The conversation started off good but she cut him off before he can even finish his sentence and said 1pm for late check out while having an attitude. I paid $280 for a room for my birthday celebration to have at this hotel… this is my third year coming here for my birthday and I will not be coming here next year. Customer service was not good and I believe they need more training.
Gregory who assisted in checking us in was absolutely a delight!! Very pleasant, friendly, and went above and beyond to get us in our room even earlier! Breakfast was amazing, and loved the accommodations! Have already booked 2 more stays here; very very nice establishment, and excellent service!
Rooms are fine, though tvs should be moved for proper dusting underneath. Road noise from the freeway can get a bit loud but what really did it for me was having a noisy neighbor. After calling the front desk to politely ask to be moved, she hung up on me. Kewl kewl 👍
Very well run and maintained hotel. Rooms were remodeled and spotless. Comfortable beds, plenty of room for a pack and play and extra space. Secure parking. Decent breakfast, nice high chairs provided for little ones. Pet friendly too!
