This hotel is a true gem and outshines similar hotels in its category. The staff is friendly and helpful, you get access to a free shuttle, breakfast is good, rooms are big, building is historic and pretty. The location is walkable in a block or two to restaurants and bars. Terrific value.
I recently spent two nights at the Hampton Inn Downtown Providence on a business trip and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The historic building, originally a bank and then a chapel, offers old-world charm and modern amenities. The hotel's location in the financial district is walking distance to numerous restaurants, the Providence River, Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, the train station, and the convention center. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I used the complimentary shuttle service for a ride to the train station. The hotel is clean and well-maintained. The lobby and dining area retain the building's original character, creating a warm atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was also good. My room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. What impressed me was the charging options. Each of the four table lamps was equipped with two USB-A ports and an AC outlet. Additionally, there was a Qi charging pad with a USB-A port, a USB-C port, and two AC outlets. There were also wall AC outlets that were easily to access. I will certainly consider staying at this hotel on my next visit to Providence.
I stayed here with some friends for a wedding in town, and it was such a gorgeous hotel, the staff was more than helpful at all times, and it was in a great location. You're right next to many great restaurants, delicious coffee shops, and fun things to do. It's easily walkable to so many things in the city. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Really great experience with friendly staff. The room was pretty simple but very clean with comfortable bed. A good central location in a very walkable city. Although I found the area a little worn and rough in the daytime, it's more of a night time activity zone with quite a few restaurants and bars open late night. Central location, buy found the area a little mixed between quaint restaurants and riverside versus rundown open parking lots and vacant buildings.
Hotel shares the edifice with an office building, as the whole building used to be a bank. Coach entrance to the side with valet parking available. Flush against neighboring buildings, so no view except if in the penthouse's conference room, which overlooks Providence River. Nice breakfast and friendly receptionists. Rooms are comfortable, with free wi-fi or paid wi-fi for faster streaming. In December 2024 the national Libertarian Party hosted an event at this location.
