Customer Reviews
Have been staying at this hotel for years. Super conveniently located to Northstar. Rooms are basic but do the job. We initially had a poor check in experience this latest stay. The gentleman at the desk refused to provide us the typical snack for gold members even though it was clearly in the display case, claiming that only “nicer hotels provide those.”Also disappointed that they now charge parking and that the hotel will be changing from a Hampton to a higher end Tapestry. Other than the person who checked us in, the staff is really great. Shout out to Amelia who went out of her to way to find us hot chocolate packets and provide us with our snacks.
I’ve been staying at this hotel for a little over a week, and it has been a great experience. The room was excellent, and the service was top-notch. The staff was friendly and accommodating, with a special shoutout to Ethiopia, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and full of great energy. She went above and beyond to assist with accommodations and any questions I had. Overall, a wonderful stay—thank you for the great experience!
Attention Guests: Please be aware that this hotel has its own cancellation and no-show policies, which differ from the global Hilton standard. About six months ago, I booked a 3-night stay for December. After the free cancellation period had passed, we were unable to visit Lake Tahoe due to family concerns. I understood Hilton’s standard policy, which states that after the free cancellation period, the penalty is one night's stay plus tax. Based on this, we decided to not show up. However, the hotel manager informed us that, according to their policy, we would be charged for the entire 3-night stay (over $1,000). This was in direct contrast to Hilton's standard policy. I reached out to Hilton’s CEO via email, and a customer service representative responded, confirming that Hilton’s standard policy would have applied a penalty of one night’s charge plus tax. However, this specific property enforces its own policy, which means Hilton’s standard policy does not apply here. Additionally, when I made the reservation, there was no mention that the hotel would charge for the entire stay if we did not show up after the cancellation deadline. Despite not staying at the hotel, they processed the charge and issued a receipt with check-in and check-out dates, but without noting that it was a no-show. This is completely unacceptable and reflects poor management. As a Titanium member with Marriott, I’ve never encountered such a policy at Marriott or even Hyatt. Based on this experience, I will not stay at this property again. Please be aware of this hotel’s specific policies when booking.
The staff is friendly, but people really need to know that this is not a 3 star hotel and should not be rated a 4.2 (by guests). This hotel stay was part of a travel job, and my kids refused to allow us to come back for the second night. There was mold all over the walls in the bathroom, rooms were extremely dated and smelled like urine. Duct tape on the floor in the lobby. Needs to be shut down and renovated fast!
I think I should mention that I am a diamond member before I review this place and so I stay here on points which is a significantly better way to do it because it’s very expensive for a nightly room in the winter. With that said, the breakfast is good. The beds are comfortable and the parking is very easy. It’s also very close to everything and there’s even a mini mart at the gas station right next-door that you can walk to.
