It looks and feels fairly new, or renovated. Furnishings are comfortable and in good shape. Standard room has a big sofa style seat, king bed and work desk. But TV was inoperable with many channels unavailable. Breakfast was the usual wet eggs, microwaved sausages, etc. Receptionist was neither warm or welcoming. Location is convenient, on a one way highway but there's a lot of noise from the road. If you're visiting the national parks, this hotel might be acceptable choice but it's still an hour drive to the park entrance. On weekends they blast mariachi music from the pool so bring some ear plugs and sleep aids.
I was pleasantly surprised by how clean this hotel was and the great customer service. I’ve stayed at many Hilton brand hotels and have bookmarked this location for when I am back in the area. If you are looking for a hotel near Sequoia National Park I would highly recommend this hotel. We originally booked an Airbnb that was 15 minutes to the national park and it was a complete nightmare (power outages and no water). Despite the 50-60 minute drive from this hotel to the national park, it is well worth it. There are plenty of shops and restaurants near the hotel (check out downtown Visalia restaurants). Bonus: The breakfast was great! Crispiest waffles I’ve had at a Hampton Inn hotel.
Overall, it feels quite old and outdated. The elevator doesn’t work well—you have to press the button in just the right way for it to function. The restaurant’s food selection and quality were also below average compared to most other Hampton Inns we’ve visited. The fitness center, while having the basic equipment, felt cramped and the machines were a bit old. On the positive side, the location is convenient, close to the highway and major roads. However, on the third floor where we stayed, there was a strong, unpleasant smell coming from the air conditioning, which clearly needs cleaning. The room itself was clean, and it’s pet-friendly, which is a plus. I’m leaving this feedback in hopes that management will address some of these issues, especially the air conditioning odor, as it greatly impacts the experience for guests throughout the floor.
Hotel all in all was fine except a certain staff lady at the front desk. Extremely rude, nasty, belligerent and doesn’t even make eye contact or have any care with customers. She denied giving 2 water bottles for no reason. Ive worked many years in customer service and she needs to be trained on how to deal with people properly. After being diamond members and staying in Hilton’s for over 20 years, this has never happened. For a company that makes tens of thousands of dollars every year from me alone, she couldn’t provide 0.50 cents worth of water. How ridiculous especially that I stayed 5 nights here.
Room was very clean. We chose a room on the 2nd floor that happens to overlook the pool which is quite large. We were greeted by a very nice gentleman who was both friendly AND professional and helpful (he made a suggestion to a restaurant). My husband is here for a golf tournament in Visalia. Restaurants, Walgreens, and the freeway are all in close proximity to this property. The grounds appear well maintained. I recommend this Hilton hotel.
