This was the best way I could celebrate the New Year. I might have been there only one night but it was a nice, quiet night. My stay was on January 1st-to 2nd and the site was near the river. There might not be a better way to sleep on a cold, crisp night than to hear a river nearby. After a very busy and hectic couple weeks, it was wonderful to relax, cook on a fire, and enjoy the woods. It was revitalizing. I enjoyed this area so much that I am going back up tomorrow!
This was my first time here and I loved it. I camped the weekend of 11/1/24 - 11/3/24. I was surprised to see so many other campers there as well. I met the host and she was extremely friendly and helpful. Whoever owns/runs the campground should make sure you keep her there! It's nice to meet people as friendly as her. I wish I could remember her name so I could give her the proper kudos that she deserves! Of course like every other camper in the world I did forget a few things and that wasn't an issue because 10 mins away I was able to get everything I forgot. Also this campground is dog friendly and that is important to me because my dog goes everywhere with me. I will definitely be back to camp here.
Great location. Decent rates. Cleanliness is up to the camper to be a decent human being, and the occasional worker who are stretched thin throughout the area. They can't, and shouldn't, have to make sure everyone is being decent human beings and not leaving anything behind. That said this place is beautiful. Right along a small river. Sites are a bit closer than I prefer but tolerable with good neighbors. Phone service isn't real good if you can get any at all in most spots. But to have a spot right in the middle of all the beauty that makes up the WMNF, this spot is perfect. If you want serious privacy this spot isn't for you. If you want to have a party, this place isn't for you. But if you want to see New Englands nature at its best, and enjoy all the Whites have to offer, this is a great spot to be able to start out from every morning. Be courteous, caring, and treat others and the location with respect, and everyone will enjoy this convenient and comfortable location. No hook ups for campers but most sites can easily handle a smaller camper and some can fit a really big one as well. Pretty sure there were Bear boxes as well which is important in a place like this. Make use of them and stay safe.
Great location before we drove the kancamagus highway. Campground is super clean and pleasant. Sites aren’t too close together and the host was super friendly. If you can plan your stay at least 5 days in advance then you can reserve online. If not, you can drive through the sites when you arrive and reserve an unoccupied site on-the-spot with cash or check. So make sure you have cash handy! Directions to use the campgrounds are posted at the entrance. The sites are close to town and quiet despite being near the main road. There are some cones from the main road to identify the entrance so you don’t miss it! If driving the kancamagus highway from there, make sure you get gas before since there is no gas between here and the start of the scenic highway.
We stayed in a first come first serve sight for 5 days with our 5th wheel (13'2 high). The branches were a little low for us, but nothing that caused damage. The campground is well kept and the camp hosts were very nice. It's about 4 miles from Lincoln. We had no Tmobile cell service on site, but less than a mile down the road had excellent service.
