We were on our way home after an epic road trip to the east coast and wanted some place to stay once we hit Ontario. We came across Happy Green Acres campground off Hwy 401. We were lucky because a booked up music festival had just finished and there were loads of spaces available. Facilities included a small swimming pool that we had to ourselves and a conference hall as well as standard park amenities. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I am sure if you are looking to camp here during a music event, you will be happy for a spot to park your camper. However, if you are a transient camper like us, I wouldn't recommend. The sites are really tight together.... literally jammed in like a can if sardines. We have 3 slides. If there were trailers beside us, there is no way we would have been able to fit. The firepits are located at the front of your trailer along the road because there is no way you could have a firepit beside your trailer without lighting your neighbours on fire. The bathrooms... we arrived on a Friday and they were still not cleaned on the Monday when we left. The entire time there were no paper towels in the dispenser. The garbage was overflowing. The shower was filled with hair and just gross. Definitely don't recommend unless you are attending an event in the park.

We love HGA, it absolutely provides what we enjoy at a Campground, we feel so comfortable with kind careing staff and patrons, it's friendly in so many ways including children and pets. It's obvious to me that the reason the staff is so helpful and happy, they work for good people, after only a few trips we feel like family, thank you HGA, we will be back.

I am a bicyclist touring in North America. I started from San Diego CA, and biked across the Southern Tier to Jacksonville FL. From there, I took Amtrak up to NYC, and biked north to Montreal QC. I am now heading back to CA by way of Toronto ON, Detroit, and then the long train ride to Los Angels from Chicago. This is my 95th day on the road. I stayed at more than 35 parks, campgrounds, and RV parks along the way. I have not left a single review for any of the places. Now, I cannot resist to share with other travelers how great the Happy Green Acres Campground is for the two of us exhausted cyclist after a long ride on a very warm (almost hot) sunny day in Canada in mid May! OK, the campground have a pool, but no playground for the kids. But, it has warm showers, clean bathrooms, and a laundry room. That’s what I needed as a cyclist. More importantly, the managers of the place, Jason and Jennifer were probably the nicest Canadians that I have met on this trip. They are not just providing fantastic customer service; you can feel the genuine hospitality, and the enthusiasm at their job. I am totally impressed, and want to share with other travelers about this great accommodation on the route from Montreal to Toronto. BTW, the campground hosts a series of music fairs throughout the summer. People from all over came here to attend the events. Sounds like real fun. You may want to check them out too.
