This is the cutest little camp ground if you're looking for somewhere basic to sit on the porch and lay your head at night. My husband, 2 younger children and myself stayed this past weekend (11/15-11/17) we came over from the East Coast of Florida to celebrate our daughters 12th birthday at Busch Gardens. I know Tampa is a sketchy area so I really wasn't interested in staying there especially since we can't afford a fancy completely safe hotel and I don't know the area at all. I was so happy when I found Happy Travler RV park online. I booked everything online and the process was super simple. The day of check in the park was in communication with me via text and responded super quick and friendly to any questions I had. I liked not having to deal with any one at a front desk. We were able to pull right in where we were greeted by two very friendly welcoming men who helped us locate our cabin. My kids enjoyed the heated pool and not feeling trapped in a hotel. I enjoyed the quiet and calmness of the park. The park is also located 30min north of a cute little spring called Lithia that was great for the kids to swim at. The cabin was in pristine condition and super clean. I met the housekeeper over at the laundry facility and she was super nice and helpful.
Very amazing experience. The cabins are so cute. 10/10 would recommend. Me and my wife went there for a couple nights for a concert and a hockey game and it definitely was worth it. There was a miscommunication with the travel company but the staff there took care of it very quickly and we both appreciate them all. We plan on staying here more in the future.
First, the good. This park is is really cozy, completely tree covered spot to park your RV. It's quiet and peaceful, but still in a fantastic part of town convenient to the interstate and pretty much anywhere you'd want to go in the greater Tampa area. However, we had a very negative experience here. We arrived for check in after hours and were informed by the security guard that our site was no longer available. This was frustrating because I paid extra money on our reservation to lock/guarantee the site we picked. So the guard directed us to set up at a site that was "not being used". I would've been fine with that. But the next day, a manager named Scott called and informed me I needed to move. Now, this particular trip we were away from our camper and had absolutely no extra time to pack everything back up and move. But he very aggressively strong armed me into moving the camper, even saying "if you don't move it, I will" because of some construction that was to happen there. Needless to say, I had to make time at 5am the next morning to pack everything up and move. What is worse, Scott informed me there is no way to apply any form of discount for our troubles, so there was absolutely no recompense for the bad experience we had. And the extra salt on the wound was that the next few days we were there, absolutely no construction was happening on the original site as Scott claimed. Long story short, it's a nice resort. But you're taking a chance staying here as it's apparently wildly mismanaged.
Very nice park with outstanding staff. We’ve stayed here from time to time over the last 25 years and consistently enjoyed it. Now, we have an even greater reason to hold this place in high regard. A family member was involved in a serious car crash which impacted our travel plans. They worked with us beyond policy or even reasonable expectation. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
Unfortunately, our stay at Happy Traveler RV Resort was not very good. Our water was turned off the 2nd day we were there apparently due to the new cabin hook up during which they broke a pipe. We did not receive any notice that the water was going to be turned nor that the campground is basically under construction. Then on the 3rd day we had no water again starting in the evening. When it was still off the next morning, I inquired at the office and they said the pump went out and they did not have an ETA. At that point, I told the office staff, Jessica, that we were not going to stay in these conditions (not a very enjoyable getaway with no water!) and we wanted a refund since we were leaving early. I am still awaiting a call from the manager Scott on the status of requested refund. On top of all that, the cable at our site did not work and the dog park was not even fenced securely. When I am spending $150 a night I expect all the amenities to be working and available as indicated by the campground. I would really appreciate you all doing the right thing and at the very least, refund me for the last night since we didn't end up spending it there!
