Great place to stay! Clean showers and bathrooms. Great hookups for the campground. Great hosts and loved the community at Hatfield Hideout. Animal friendly. Next to a river which is awesome when it is hot. Easy access to groceries and gas. Also, close to Devil Anse trail. Full hookups, fire ring, picnic tables and cabins just in case camping is not what you want. Great place and great staff.
Fantastic experience, no complaints. We’d stay here anytime we come to ride. Great area, great views, close to the trails, gas etc. Cabin was clean, bed super comfy and heat/air worked great.
Very nice staff, great place next to the tug fork river, super clean bathrooms and showers, and hookups on tent sites. I will be coming back here and recommend it to anyone, honestly this place is super underrated. The only bad is that wifi was pretty bad, but there was a storm that day which may have caused it. 10 star.
Great place to rent a cabin, park an RV, or pitch a tent. Friendly people, great laundry and bath house, river access, and trail access. Easy walk to downtown Matewan to the Trailhead bar /restaurant and other stores and food.
Great place! No complaints whatsoever. Convenient to trails, fuel, food. The cabin was perfect for our needs. Thanks to all the Hatfield staff!
Very nice staff, great place next to the tug fork river, super clean bathrooms and showers, and hookups on tent sites. My reservation wasn't messed up like it was at Twin Hollow. I will be coming back here eventually and recommend it to anyone, honestly this place is super underrated. The only bad is that the drive there is a very narrow one lane road. 10 star otherwise.
I actually stayed in a camper but the bath house was clean and well done so i expect the same for the cabins. The location is great. Facility overall was very well kept. All the folks working there were friendly and could answer any questions we had. Will go back again.
This campground has all the basics for an enjoyable stay. We reserved a tent site for 5 nights, and after staying at many many campgrounds over the years, this was the first one that had a grassy area for tents, rather than dirt or sand. It was nice because there was no risk of accidentally setting my tent up on rocks or tracking dirt and sand into your tent. Our tent site was also close to the bath house which was convenient. The bath house also has a sufficient light outside for night time bathroom trips. The campground was generally quiet and we quite enjoyed the train especially since it is a big part of Kentucky history. Personally the train did not wake me up. The campground is close to a gas station, grocery store and a the Tug River. I quite enjoyed the view of the mountains, gazing up at the stars and listening to owls. You can also purchase some camp basics from the main office including firewood. For any history buffs the campground is close to several Hatfield & McCoy historical markers, as well as small shops in the town of Matewan W.V. My only recommendation for tent campers who intend to eat or cook at the campsite would be to bring a small folding table. The caretaker is also very pleasant, checks in periodically and keeps an eye on things. Overall this campground is well maintained.
