Hattie Sherwood Campground, situated in the picturesque city of Green Lake, Wisconsin, is a cherished municipal campground that stands as a notable offering within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. Operated by the city, it provides a well-maintained and accessible outdoor experience, appealing to local users and visitors seeking a serene lakeside escape. Its prime location on the shores of Green Lake, Wisconsin's deepest inland lake, makes it a highly desirable destination for water-based recreation and peaceful relaxation. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the campground's environment, services, features, and promotional aspects.

The environment of Hattie Sherwood Campground is defined by its exceptional lakeside setting and mature tree cover. The campground is directly adjacent to Green Lake, offering many sites with stunning lake views and direct access to the water. The campsites themselves are often described as being well-shaded by a mix of mature hardwood trees, providing a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, particularly during the warmer months. The terrain is generally level, making it easy to set up camp for both RVs and tents. The air is fresh, often carrying a gentle breeze off the lake, and the soundscape is typically dominated by natural sounds – the lapping of water, birdsong, and the distant calls of waterfowl. While being a municipal campground, it maintains a tranquil and peaceful ambiance, conducive to relaxation and connecting with nature. Its proximity to the city of Green Lake means that while campers enjoy a natural setting, they are never far from local amenities, shops, and restaurants, offering a convenient balance of outdoor escape and urban accessibility. The overall cleanliness and well-maintained nature of the grounds contribute significantly to the pleasant environmental experience.

As a key entity within the Campgrounds & RV Parks sector, Hattie Sherwood Campground offers a range of services and goods designed to meet the needs of diverse campers. For RV and trailer enthusiasts, the campground provides numerous sites with various hook-up options. These commonly include sites with 30-amp electric service and water hookups. While full hook-up sites (with sewer) may be limited or absent, a central dump station is typically available for RV waste disposal. Tent campers are also well accommodated with designated tent sites, often featuring picnic tables and fire rings. Communal services are a strong point, with clean and regularly maintained restroom facilities that include flush toilets and hot showers, a highly valued amenity for any camper. Laundry facilities are also usually available on-site, offering convenience for extended stays. While a large, dedicated general store might not be present, a campground office or kiosk often sells essential goods such as ice and firewood. The municipal operation ensures that the campground adheres to high standards of public safety and cleanliness, providing a reliable and comfortable base for outdoor adventures. Some public campgrounds might also offer Wi-Fi access, either campground-wide or in specific common areas, catering to those who wish to remain connected during their stay.

The features of Hattie Sherwood Campground are largely centered around its direct access to Green Lake and the recreational opportunities it provides. A significant feature is the presence of a beautiful, sandy swimming beach within the campground, offering a safe and enjoyable area for families and individuals to cool off and play in the clear lake waters. For boaters, the campground typically provides a public boat launch, allowing easy access for launching various watercraft onto Green Lake, which is popular for fishing, watersports, and leisurely cruises. Fishing is a major draw, with Green Lake being known for its diverse fish population, including lake trout, walleye, northern pike, and bass, making it an excellent spot for anglers. A fishing pier might also be available for those who prefer to fish from shore. For families, a children's playground is a standard feature, providing a dedicated space for younger campers to burn off energy. Picnic areas, often with tables and grills, are scattered throughout the campground, suitable for day-use visitors or additional gathering spots for campers. The availability of accessible sites ensures that the campground can accommodate visitors with varying mobility needs. The campground's layout is often designed to maximize lake views and easy access to communal facilities and recreational areas. The general atmosphere is often cited as peaceful and family-friendly, fostering a relaxed camping experience. The proximity to the city of Green Lake also means that campers have easy access to additional features like golf courses, quaint shops, restaurants, and local events held throughout the season, expanding the range of activities available beyond the campground itself.

In terms of promotional information, Hattie Sherwood Campground emphasizes its appeal as an affordable, family-friendly, and lakeside destination. Information regarding daily and weekly rates is clearly published, and seasonal camping options may also be available for those who wish to set up a long-term base for the entire operating season. The campground's operating season typically runs from late spring through early fall (e.g., May to October), and these dates are prominently communicated. Pet policies are usually well-defined, welcoming pets with specific rules regarding leashing and waste disposal to ensure a comfortable environment for all guests. Promotional materials highlight the direct lake access, the sandy swimming beach, and the boat launch as primary attractions. The peaceful environment and suitability for families are also key selling points. Visitors are encouraged to contact the City of Green Lake Parks Department or visit the official city website for booking information, current rates, availability, and specific campground rules. They often showcase positive visitor reviews and testimonials that speak to the cleanliness, friendly staff, and great location. The campground's integration with the wider Green Lake community is also promoted, suggesting easy access to local events, festivals, and businesses, further enhancing the overall vacation experience for guests. Have been camping here for 5 years on Father’s Day weekend with my brother and dad. Quinn, who runs the facilities, is so helpful every year. Right by the lake which is a huge plus as well. All the electric works at all the campsites. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained

Nice and quiet park, decent size lot of out unit. Was parked next to the bathrooms. Bathrooms were stocked with what one would need, but could have the cobwebs removed.

So my family has camped more than most in an RV as I would tow it to a job-site and bring my family over the last 15 years. Kids got older and jobs changed. My oldest daughter wanted to go to the airshow and Hattie Sherwood Campground was the perfect spot to camp. So for the 1st time in 23 years we pitched a tent. I made a reservation several days in advance and called the day of to make sure we could come in late after the fireworks. The individual that answered was very helpful and accommodating. It was a beautiful site with great views. Very quiet and clean bathrooms. We really enjoyed our brief stay. Can't wait to go back

Great place to camp! Met the campground manager named Quin, super awesome guy and takes care of all the sites and the campers. Bathrooms are very clean/dry. Showers are very nice and hot. They really put a lot of work in this year (2024), they cleared out a lot of overgrown brush that was slowly creeping into all the sites. Planted new trees that will look great in years coming(Great job Barb and crew). Thanks for the hospitality Quin! Keep up the great work. We will be back.

Nice small beach/park. The sand needs a good raking. No life guards. A sign about the water quality is clearly displayed on the building to let swimmers know if it is safe to swim. Restrooms have changing stalls.
